— Summer School 2026

A week immersed in nature with our multinational teaching team in the heart of Nagano Prefecture. Away from the city, surrounded by the real thing — mountains, rivers, and forests — your child’s English and inner confidence will flourish in ways no classroom can replicate.

Open to children from Pre-K (age 4) through Grade 9, held across three campuses in Nagano Prefecture from July 27 to August 7, 2026.

Why ISN Summer School?

Three reasons families choose us.

01

Nagano’s Spectacular Nature, All in English

The Northern Alps, the Kitashingo Mountains, the Azumino ranges. The kind of curiosity that can never be sparked in a classroom comes alive under open skies — with English as the language of discovery.

02

Small Groups, Multinational Teaching Team

An inclusion-style program where participants learn alongside current ISN students. No English proficiency required — bilingual Japanese staff provide full support throughout.

03

English Is the Medium, Not the Goal

Fieldwork, science, art. Each challenge and achievement builds confidence that lasts a lifetime. Not learning English — learning through English.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions

Can my child participate even if they don’t speak English at all?

At Gojo Campus (Elementary) and Nagano Campus (Pre-K and up), no English ability is required. The Nagano-Nakano Campus offers an advanced “Practical Program” format best suited for children seeking to deepen their English dialogue and inquiry skills, so a certain level of English proficiency is required. Bilingual Japanese–English office staff are on site. Current ISN students and teachers support all participants to ensure an enjoyable experience. The goal is to experience the joy of being understood in English — and beyond.

Can families from outside Nagano Prefecture participate?

Yes, we welcome many families from across Japan and from overseas. Our campuses are easily accessible via the Hokuriku Shinkansen and expressways. Many families combine the program with a summer holiday in Nagano. We are happy to help with accommodation recommendations as well.

What should my child bring or wear?

Please prepare comfortable clothing, a hat, a water bottle, and a change of clothes. A detailed packing list will be provided after enrollment. Since many activities take place outdoors in nature, we recommend clothes that can get dirty.

Is the program only for current ISN students?

Not at all — external participants are very welcome. In fact, learning alongside current ISN students in our inclusion-style format is one of the program’s defining strengths.

What about transportation and lunch?

Lunch is included in the program fee (allergy accommodations are not available). Transportation arrangements vary by campus and will be communicated individually after enrollment.
