After exploring how waste affects the environment, the Rainforest 5–6 inquirers were given the opportunity to represent their understanding through a diorama.
Rainforest（5–6歳）クラスでは、「ごみが環境にどのような影響を与えるのか」をテーマに探究を進めてきました。その中で、子どもたちは自分たちの理解を形にする活動として、ジオラマ制作に取り組みました。
Bringing together what they remembered and discovered, the inquirers created meaningful pieces that made their thinking visible. Through their work, they showed sources of pollution, its effects on the environment, and how living things are impacted.
これまでに見たり、感じたり、話し合ったことを一つの作品としてまとめる中で、子どもたちの考えが目に見える形になりました。ジオラマには、汚染の原因や環境への影響、そして動植物への影響がしっかりと表現されていました。
What stood out most was how the inquirers began to make connections on their own. They were not only describing what they saw, but also explaining what happens and why. Many were able to show clear cause-and-effect thinking, recognizing that when people throw garbage, it leads to polluted environments that can harm animals, plants, and even humans.
特に印象的だったのは、子どもたち自身が自然に「つながり」に気づき始めたことです。ただ見たことを表現するだけでなく、「なぜそうなるのか」「その結果どうなるのか」といった原因と結果の関係を考え、表現する姿が見られました。ごみを捨てることで環境が汚れ、その影響が動物や植物、そして人にも及ぶことに気づき始めています。
Student agency was evident throughout the process. The inquirers made their own choices in how to represent their ideas, selected materials independently, and confidently shared their thinking. Some even began suggesting ways to help the Earth, showing an emerging sense of responsibility.
活動の中では、子どもたちの主体性（Student Agency）も大きく見られました。どのように表現するかを自分で考え、材料を選び、自分の言葉で考えを伝える姿がとても印象的でした。また、「どうすれば地球を守れるか」といったアイデアも自然と出てきており、環境に対する責任感の芽生えも感じられます。
This experience reflected several Learner Profile attributes. The inquirers demonstrated being Thinkers as they made connections and solved problems, Communicators as they expressed their ideas clearly, and Caring as they showed concern for the environment and living things.
この経験を通して、IBの学習者像（Learner Profile）も育まれています。子どもたちは、つながりを考え問題を解決しようとする「考える人（Thinker）」、自分の考えを伝える「コミュニケーター（Communicator）」、そして環境や生き物を大切にしようとする「思いやりのある人（Caring）」としての姿を見せてくれました。
In addition, key Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills were observed. The inquirers developed their Thinking skills by analyzing cause and effect and making meaningful connections. Their Communication skills were evident as they explained their ideas and shared their understanding, while Social skills were practiced through collaboration and respectful sharing of materials and ideas.
また、アプローチ・トゥ・ラーニング（ATL）スキルも育っています。原因と結果を考える「思考スキル」、自分の考えを伝える「コミュニケーションスキル」、そして友だちと協力しながら活動する「社会性スキル」が見られました。
From an Approaches to Teaching (ATT) perspective, this learning experience was inquiry-based, student-centered, and concept-driven. It provided opportunities for voice, choice, and authentic learning by connecting classroom experiences to real-world environmental issues.
教育の面（ATT）においても、この活動は探究を大切にした、子ども中心で概念に基づいた学びとなりました。子どもたちの声や選択を大切にしながら、実生活とつながる本物の学びへとつながっています。
Overall, the diorama was more than a creative activity—it was a powerful reflection of the inquirers’ growing understanding and their developing sense of responsibility in caring for the Earth.
今回のジオラマ制作は、単なる作品づくりではなく、子どもたちの理解の深まりや、地球を大切にしたいという気持ちの育ちを感じられる、意味のある学びとなりました。
We are continuing to review and strengthen our reading skills by practicing CVC words. The Rainforest class are natural readers, and they always feel proud when they are able to read a whole book independently. After reading, they further develop their writing skills by copying their favorite words or sentences from the book.
Rainforestクラスでは、CVCワード（子音＋母音＋子音の単語）を使いながら、引き続きリーディング力の定着と向上に取り組んでいます。子どもたちはもともと読むことが大好きで、一冊の本を自分で読みきることができたときには、とても誇らしそうな様子を見せてくれます。読んだ後は、お気に入りの単語や文章を書き写すことで、ライティングの力も伸ばしています。
We look forward to seeing our students apply what they have learned about the 3Rs in real life. Watching them connect their learning to their everyday experiences is a clear sign of meaningful learning, and a wonderful outcome of inquiry-based lessons.
これから、子どもたちが「3R（リデュース・リユース・リサイクル）」の学びを日常生活の中でどのように活かしていくのか、とても楽しみにしています。学んだことを自分の生活と結びつけていく姿は、意味のある学びが育っている証であり、探究型の学びの大きな成果だと感じています。
