This week, the students explored literacy and inquiry through meaningful play-based experiences.
今週、レインフォレストさんたちは意味のある遊びを通した体験の中で、読み書きの力や探究心を深めました。
During Reading time, the children discovered that reading is not only about looking at books quietly, but can also happen through games, movement, and collaboration. As they practiced recognizing familiar words and reading simple sentences together, the students showed confidence, communication, and enthusiasm for learning. Through these activities, they developed their skills as Communicators by sharing ideas and supporting one another during the games.
Readingの時間では、「読むこと」は静かに本を見るだけではなく、ゲームや体を動かす活動、友だちとの協力を通しても行えることを発見しました。身近な単語を認識したり、簡単な文章を一緒に読んだりする練習の中で、子どもたちは自信を持ってコミュニケーションを取り、学ぶことへの意欲を見せていました。これらの活動を通して、ゲームの中でアイデアを共有したり、お互いを支え合ったりすることで、「コミュニケーター」としての力を育んでいました。
In our Unit of Inquiry, the students participated in a sorting activity where they explored the question: Which items are recyclable and which are not recyclable? Using their prior knowledge, the children carefully observed the pictures and created their own hypotheses before watching a video to check their thinking. The students were excited and proud to discover that their ideas were correct. This learning experience encouraged them to become Thinkers as they analyzed information and made connections based on their observations.
Unit of Inquiryでは、「何がリサイクルできて、何がリサイクルできないのか？」という問いについて、分類活動を通して考えました。子どもたちはこれまでの知識を活かしながら、絵をよく観察し、動画を見る前に自分たちなりの仮説を立てました。その後、自分たちの考えが正しかったことを知り、とても嬉しそうで誇らしげな様子を見せていました。この学習体験を通して、子どもたちは観察をもとに情報を分析し、関連付けて考えることで、「Thinker」（考える人）としての力を育んでいました。
Our inquiry continued through play as the children creatively transformed recycled boxes into bags. They connected their play to real-life experiences by sharing ideas such as, “We can put our toys here!” and “We can use this as our school bag!” Through this hands-on experience, the students demonstrated creativity and began to understand how materials can be reused in meaningful ways. They also showed the attributes of being Caring as they reflected on simple actions that can help care for the environment.
探究活動は遊びを通してさらに広がり、子どもたちは空き箱を使って創造的にバッグ作りを楽しみました。「ここにおもちゃを入れられるよ！」「これは学校のかばんとして使えるね！」など、自分たちの実生活と結び付けながらアイデアを共有していました。この実践的な体験を通して、子どもたちは創造力を発揮し、物を意味のある形で再利用できることを学び始めました。また、環境を大切にするために自分たちにできることを考える中で、「思いやりのある人（Caring）」としての姿も見られました。
It was wonderful to see the children learning through curiosity, collaboration, and play while making authentic connections to the world around them.
レインフォレストの子どもたちが好奇心や協力、遊びを通して学びながら、身の回りの世界と本物のつながりを見つけている姿を見ることができ、とても素晴らしく、うれしく思いました。
