“Is it lunch yet?”

Hello everyone, I hope that you are doing well today. We welcomed our parents for observations and they also enjoyed eating lunch. On this day, we also held an IB workshop for the parents of our campus. We continued to learn about plants, and this time we focused on bushes, creepers and climbers for our unit 2. We also began Line Of Inquiry 3 which is about the importance of plants to us.

As we learn about the different types of plants that we have along with the sum of their parts, we learned about bushes. This is great for us as we have a variety of bushes around our campus, and we took full advantage of this. We took a walk around campus and drew pictures of some of the bushes around us.

The morning glory have been growing well, and that is down to the hard work, care and nurture that students have been giving their plants. They have grown and we can visibly see the stem and flowers. This benefits our knowledge of unit 2 and learning about plants. This helped us see 2 different parts of a flower. The students also observed, drew and wrote about their observations of the growth of their morning glory.

We have also been learning about different types of plants and to close off line of inquiry 1 and 2, we have been focusing on climbers, creepers and herbs. Line Of Inquiry 3 is all about the importance of plants to humans and animals. This will also tie in well with our upcoming Inquiry Fair on the 16th of July.

Music classes are always quite fun and interesting. We learn different ways of seeing music, rhythm and fun engaging music activities. I would also like to attach links to songs that can be played at home. This is a fun way to introduce more English content at home as well. The music teacher has been very kind and sent us links to songs that you can play at home for added English reinforcement, which is awesome!! Creative Computing classes have been going well, and a new challenge for us in grade 1. The students are still learning how to use their laptops well, and they have also been getting down to some interesting creations.

Grade 1 had their first swimming class of the year, and it was fun. The students warmed up and we discussed some of the important essential rules of using the pool. The students displayed a good understanding of this. Their first swimming lesson went well, and we might see some of these guys at the Olympics for sure!

Last week we also welcomed the parents for observations, parents IB workshop and to enjoy lunch with the students in class. That was a great experience for me and it was good to see you all. I hope that you had a good time with us and that we will see you soon again. Thank you for your support, and I hope that you have a good weekend! Salutations!
