Turning Learning into Action

As part of our Unit of Inquiry under Sharing the Planet, the Rainforest class continued exploring our central idea: People’s choices can help care for the Earth. After learning about the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, the children took the next step in their inquiry by turning their learning into meaningful action.

「Sharing the Planet（地球を共有する）」の探究学習（Unit of Inquiry）の一環として、Rainforestクラスでは、「人々の選択が地球を大切にすることにつながる」というセントラルアイデアの探究を続けました。

子どもたちは、**3R（Reduce：ごみを減らす、Reuse：繰り返し使う、Recycle：リサイクルする）**について学んだ後、その学びをさらに深め、実際の行動へとつなげる探究活動に取り組みました。

One of the highlights of this learning journey was the children’s poster presentation to the Savanna class. The Rainforest students proudly shared the posters they created about important environmental issues such as food waste, too much garbage, wasting energy, and deforestation. Through their presentations, they shared simple but powerful actions we can all take to help, such as reducing waste, reusing materials, saving electricity, and cleaning up our surroundings.

この探究活動の中でも特に印象的だったのは、Rainforestクラスの子どもたちがSavannaクラスの子どもたちに向けて行ったポスター発表です。

子どもたちは、食品ロス、ごみの増加、エネルギーの無駄遣い、森林伐採など、環境問題について自分たちで作成したポスターを使い、自信を持って発表しました。

発表では、「ごみを減らす」「物を繰り返し使う」「電気を大切に使う」「身の回りをきれいにする」といった、私たち一人ひとりが今日から実践できる身近で大切な行動を紹介し、地球を守るためにできることをみんなに伝えました。

This experience gave the children an opportunity to use their voices as advocates for the Earth. They practiced speaking in front of others, expressing their ideas, and encouraging younger friends to take action too. It was wonderful to see them grow in confidence as they shared their understanding with purpose.

この活動を通して、子どもたちは地球環境を守るためのメッセンジャーとして、自分たちの思いや学びを発信する貴重な機会を得ることができました。

発表では、人前で話すことや自分の考えを伝えることに挑戦し、さらに年下の友だちにも環境を守るための行動を呼びかけました。

一人ひとりが自信を持って目的意識をもって学びを伝える姿はとても頼もしく、子どもたちの大きな成長を感じることができました。

To deepen their learning even further, the children also joined a clean-up drive at Matsumoto Castle. With gloves, garbage bags, and a strong sense of responsibility, the Rainforest class worked together to help care for the environment around them. As they picked up litter and looked around the area, the children were able to connect their classroom learning to the real world. They saw firsthand how people’s choices affect the environment and how even small actions can make a difference.

さらに学びを深めるために、子どもたちは松本城でのクリーンアップ活動にも参加しました。

軍手とごみ袋を手に、一人ひとりが環境を大切にしたいという気持ちを持ちながら、Rainforestクラスのみんなで協力して清掃活動に取り組みました。

ごみを拾いながら周囲の様子を観察することで、教室で学んだことと実際の社会を結び付けて考える貴重な機会となりました。また、人々の行動や選択が環境に大きな影響を与えること、そして小さな行動の積み重ねが環境を守ることにつながることを、子どもたちは自分自身の体験を通して実感することができました

In Phonics, the children also tried a spelling activity for the first time. They were shown pictures and worked on spelling the words by listening carefully to the sounds they heard and identifying the letters that matched those sounds. It was wonderful to see the children begin applying their phonics knowledge in a new way. We will continue to do more of these spelling activities as we cover different phonics concepts and support the children in building their confidence in reading and writing.

Through these experiences, the Rainforest class continues to grow as communicators, thinkers, and caring members of the community. We are proud of how they are learning to express their ideas, take action, and understand that even small choices can have a positive impact on the world around them.

フォニックスでは、子どもたちは初めてスペリング（つづり）の活動にも挑戦しました。絵を見ながら、聞こえてくる音を一つひとつ丁寧に聞き取り、その音に合う文字を考えながら単語のつづりを書きました。これまで学んできたフォニックスの知識を、新しい形で活用し始める子どもたちの姿を見ることができ、とても嬉しく思いました。今後もさまざまなフォニックスの学習に合わせてスペリング活動を取り入れ、読む力・書く力への自信を育んでいきます。

このようなさまざまな経験を通して、Rainforestクラスの子どもたちは、communicators,thinkers、そしてcaringとして着実に成長しています。自分の考えを相手に伝え、学びを実際の行動へとつなげ、小さな選択や行動でも身の回りの世界によい影響を与えられることを理解し始めている子どもたちの姿を、とても頼もしく感じています。
