Greetings everyone! We’ve had such an eventful month so far, and we will look back at our Sports Festival, and we also look forward to visitors from preschool, our upcoming Halloween Party and Global Voices. The students have also been busy with regular classes including music classes and creative computing. We also had a great bus trip to Skypark last week.

We hosted our 2026 Sports Festival a few weeks ago and this was quite eventful. Grade 1 along with all the classes were great, and this was a culmination of their hard-work and preparation for the past few weeks. One thing to mention is how the grade 1 students were impressive in their focus and ability to be principled. The grade 1 students managed to handle themselves quite well and independently. They were able to remember the events well and the sequence of each section greatly. This shows growth and independence from the students and that is something we could all be proud of!

Last week Friday, we visited The Shinshu Skypark. This was our first full day bus trip in grade 1 and this was also a great way for us to connect what we have been learning in unit 3, to a multipurpose park that has a variety of physical equipment and activities that we could enjoy. A highlight was using the bouldering wall and get to enjoy an extreme sport that the students could explore and enjoy.

We had our music class this week, and we also continue to prepare for our upcoming Music Concert in December. The students chose the song that they would like to perform for our Music Concert.

We had our eye screening today, and this was also a great chance for the school nurse to talk to the students about how to take care of their eyesight and things to avoid that could be harmful to them, and these included things such as long periods of screen time and getting enough rest is key.

This week we also had a creative computing class and this week’s class focused on online safety for the students. This was particularly important as we have seen increased use of online games in children and adults, and raising awareness and attention to this kind of issue was key for grade 1 and all students at ISN to receive. We spoke about how to recognise a stranger, the kind of language and words they use and how to be safe from online strangers. Having continued conversations, guidance and reflections at home goes a long way too.

We also had visitors from preschool last week Friday. We had a good time with all the students from Savanna and Shooting Star, and the parents. This was a good exchange for us and helps create a stronger bond and relationship between campuses.
Thank you for your support and for visiting our blog for the past few weeks. Next we’ll be preparing for Halloween and Global Voices, which are 2 events we are looking forward to. I hope that you take care as the weather also gets a bit more chilly. See you next time!
