Grade 6 Legacy Project

The ISN Grade 6 Legacy Project is a wonderful example of how students can make a lasting difference in their school community. This year, five dedicated Grade 6 students took on the challenge of transforming the display cabinet in the school foyer—an area seen by everyone who walks through our doors. Their goal was simple but meaningful: leave ISN a little brighter than they found it.

Before the colour came the hard work. Over multiple sessions, the students carefully sanded and cleaned the cabinet, learning that preparation is just as important as the final result. Dusty hands, sore arms, and plenty of teamwork were required to get the surface just right. They showed great commitment and self-management, never rushing the process and always supporting one another.

Once the cabinet was ready, the real fun began—painting it in the four ISN house colours: green, yellow, red, and blue. There were plenty of paint splashes, a few spotted uniforms, and lots of laughter along the way. Despite the mess, the students stayed risk-takers, trying new techniques and solving problems as they arose to make sure the cabinet looked its best.

Throughout the project, the students demonstrated many IB Learner Profile attributes. They were collaborators, sharing tasks and encouraging each other; thinkers, finding solutions when challenges appeared; and caring, taking pride in improving a shared school space for everyone to enjoy. Their perseverance truly reflected the spirit of responsible and active learners.

Now proudly displayed in the foyer, the refreshed cabinet stands as a symbol of hard work, teamwork, and student agency. This legacy project is more than just a coat of paint—it is a reminder that even small groups of students can create a meaningful impact. Well done to our Grade 6 students for leaving behind a colourful legacy that will be enjoyed for years to come.
