Hello all! We had an exciting and rainy time this week! Grade 4 were very pleased to see the rain lighten off and stop as they were getting tired of inside breaks!
One of the highlights of our week was greeting our family’s at school and having the rare opportunity to share a lesson and lunchtime with them! I think the parents and family members who attended enjoyed our delicious new school lunches, personally, I’m a big fan!!! We had recently started work on our second unit of the year and were excited to share our central idea and a part of our formative assessment with families! Our central idea is that “People grow and change through learning and experience”. As a part of that we thought about different emotions, we named different situations and experiences and then we thought of the feelings and emotions we might expect in them. Then we named those emotions and tried to rank them from “bad” to “good”.

Later on we worked on our wonderwall, this Unit I was overwhelmed by the excellence, imagination, and the deeply inquisitive spirit on display!

Students were asked to try and match their questions to our lines of inquiry so we could start to think of pathways of questioning and activities we could investigate to get answers!

I felt like this was a really nice, student centered way to drive inquiry and generate interest into unit 2! I’m looking forward to seeing the results come together! So far the work I’m seeing is promising and I’m looking forward to watching it as it pulls into focus!
