Hello to Grade 3 and all their supporters! We have had a busy couple of months, getting to grips with the idea of the narrative arts (The main topic of Unit 4) and preparing props and costumes, practicing lines, positions and actions for our winter performance this year!
Our winter performance has the title of Jurassic Potter! Maybe you can guess who some of the characters might be? I have to say I am super proud of Grade 3 for all the hard work they have put in toward the performance this year. Not only did they make big contributions to the script, the characters and the world we are setting the performance in, they have also insisted on making all their own props! I am so happy to see them take the agency and work autonomously on their own props and costumes and also to see the pride they take in doing so! Without wanting to spoil too much I’m including two photos of one of our dinosaur costumes with this blogpost! I’m looking forward to joining them in sharing our performance with you all later this December!
Apart from all the acting and crafting we have been grappling with some important inquiries into the narrative arts! What are they? If movies are a narrative art then does that mean that all movies have a narrative? Is there a difference between the words story and narrative? Why is narrative important to people? We are still looking for answers to these questions so if any parents or guardians have any ideas or insights, please do discuss them with your child! Stay warm, snug and toasty and we are looking forward to seeing you at the winter performance!!!
