In this unit, we are focusing on developing our students’ Research and Social skills by providing them various activities. For example, to learn more about countries around the world, we watch guessing game videos on youtube that show the names and flags of the countries. They can also look at world map, globe, countries and flags flashcards, and books related to the topic. We also have group activities wherein students learn to make their own groups by themselves, work together to accomplish the task given to them, and make good choices whenever there’s a conflict within their group, and present their work in the class. Another example is, after learning about the Japanese traditional events, Milky Way students completed a worksheet by group wherein they had to write or draw the country name, flag, one traditional event they learned, when it is celebrated, and how it is celebrated. They also shared what they have learned by presenting their work in the class.📒
This week also we started to explore LOI3: Similarities and differences of traditional events around the world. Since everybody is very interested in the Philippines, we will start learning about the traditional events in the Philippines. We began by making passports wherein students compiled the pages needed to make the passport book and wrote their personal information such as name, age, gender, and home country. The next day, we made origami airplane which they used to fly to the Philippines. After getting their entry stamp on their visa, we went outside and pretended to go to the Philippines by flying their airplanes! They keep saying, “Let’s go to the Philippines!” “We will go to the Philippines using this airplane!” Next week, we will explore about Philippines’ traditional events.🇵🇭
In our reading lesson, we read the book “On Thanksgiving”. In this book, they learned what Thanksgiving is and what they can do on thanksgiving. They also discovered that in Japan there’s a national holiday called Labor Thanksgiving Day which is celebrated annually on November 23rd, to show respect to laborers/workers and those who do their jobs well. They thought of the workers they appreciate and wanted to say thank you by giving them a small present on the Labor Thanksgiving Day.💌
The cold never bothered the Milky Way students while playing in the schoolyard or at the park and even during their gym and tennis lessons. It actually makes their bodies move more or play more. And they like it because even if they move their bodies a lot or play a lot, they don’t sweat like in summer. They also always say that moving their bodies and playing is good and healthy for their bodies.🤸♂️🤸♀️
That’s all for this week! Thank you for reading our blog. Enjoy your weekend!😊
