Welcome to Milky way’s second blog of the month. The students learned a lot this week and had fun while at it. They kicked off their very first UOI lesson by trying to figure out exactly what the central idea and first line of the inquiry mean. They then slowly progressed to dissecting the 3Rs, but with a particular focus on recycling and reusing.Organizing knowledge is important to the overall understanding of a topic. Therefore, the students started making a poster about the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)and they aim to finish it by next week or the week after that. Rome wasn’t built in a day…😊 .They will shift their focus to the “reducing” part of the 3Rs after reviewing what they have learned so far.The last thing we want is for them to be bogged down by information overload. The plan is to get there steadily, but surely.

This week was also a week of many firsts. The students enjoyed their first swimming lesson, Japanese lesson, reading lesson, writing lesson, gym lesson, tennis lesson and music lesson! They also had fun at Nanbu park! Child development specialists want educators and parents alike to understand the importance of physical activity for kids. They argue that kids these days do not walk as much as they used to/ as much as they should. Nanbu park is a good distance from campus ,so we plan on walking there as often as we can!

Everyone enjoyed the ‘show and tell’ sessions we have had so far. Thank you for allowing your kids to bring things to school to show their classmates and to talk about them. This is a great opportunity for everyone to build confidence and to polish up their presentation as well as conversation skills. We appreciate your cooperation!
Below are the link(s) to the song(s) we sang and danced to this week.
Have a wonderful weekend!
