To learn more about teamwork and to review what they have learned so far they did three team work challenges this week.Their first challenge was the lego challenge. The students had to replicate a lego structure displayed in front of them. They had to carefully look at the pieces and make sure they placed everything on the correct spot. The team that copied the structure correctly and finished first won. The lego structure on the pink base was the sample.

The results: First attempt and the second attempt respectively.

Their second challenge was the blanket flipping challenge. They had to flip a blanket/towel without any of their team mates stepping off it.

Their third challenge was the charades challenge. They made 2 teams and competed to get the most amount of points by guessing what their opponents were doing. If they guessed correctly, they got a point. This was a good way for them to practice how to communicate and share ideas.

The three challenges proved what they initially talked about regarding team work and some of the skills that can be utilized to succeed as a team. They said that communication is important in these types of challenges. That talking to one’s team mates ,listening and sharing ideas is the key to success.
This week’s phonics focus was “th” diagraphs. They played bowling and had to read the word written on the bowling pin they knocked over. After that, they did a cut and paste activity where they had to combine letters and diagraphs to make the word that matched the picture.

As part of revising past phonics lessons, they made popcorn cups and had to cut the ‘popcorn’ and put them in their appropriate boxes based on their initial diagraph sounds- “sm” and “sn”.

~The week ahead~
Next week will be reflection week. A week when the students will be encouraged to think about what they learned, the challenges they faced, their successes and personal growth. They are excited about going to harvest the rice they planted at the beginning of the term!
Thank you for reading our blog. Have a nice weekend!
