Hello everyone!
Milky way’s week began with an inquiry into the meaning of pollution. The students shared their knowledge and thoughts about pollution. The main point was that pollution occurs when people do not follow the 3rs and that plastic is a big contributor of pollution, mainly water. There were opinions such as, “pollution means dirty”, “pollution means not healthy.” By the end of the week almost everyone was saying, “fish and turtles die because of water pollution.”

On Wednesday morning, the students listened to a speech from people who specialize in environmental education. They learned a lot and enjoyed dancing together.

For phonics, they will be learning about long vowels and the remainder of this month will be dedicated to guiding the students to reach a level where they will be able to differentiate short vowels from long ones. They played a bowling game using PET bottles. They had to read the words written on the bottles they toppled over and then match it to a short vowel word written on the white board.

This week’s Japanese lesson’s focus was the hiragana “ra” character.
The students wrapped up their busy week by going to a farm to participate in rice planting.(We will upload pictures next week).
Have a lovely weekend!
