This week has been an exciting and heartwarming time for our Shooting Star students. From joyful music practices and enthusiastic rehearsals to scientific discoveries and a special seasonal celebration with families, our days were filled with meaningful learning and unforgettable experiences. Here is a look at the wonderful moments we shared together.
今週は、シューティングスターさんたちにとって、わくわくと温かさに満ちた一週間となりました。ピアニカの練習や意欲いっぱいのリハーサル、科学的な発見、そしてご家族と一緒に楽しんだ季節のイベントまで、毎日が学びと素敵な体験にあふれていました。ここでは、その素晴らしい瞬間の数々をご紹介します。
Our mornings have been filled with joyful melodies as the Shooting Star students continue practicing for our upcoming Christmas Show music performance. Their enthusiasm has grown even more thanks to the pianica practice cards they take home. After practicing, students receive a check from their parents and proudly exchange their checks for stickers from the teachers. Each day, they come to school excited to share how many times they practiced at home!
朝の時間は、クリスマスショーのピアニカの発表に向けた練習で、子どもたちの元気なメロディーに包まれています。家に持ち帰るピアニカの練習カードのおかげで、やる気もさらにアップ！練習が終わると、保護者の方にチェックをしてもらい、そのチェックを先生に見せるとステッカーがもらえます。毎日、「昨日は何回練習したよ！」と嬉しそうに報告してくれています。
Alongside music practice, our classroom has been buzzing with singing, dancing, and acting. Our little performers showed tremendous confidence as they rehearsed their songs, movements, and actions for the Christmas Show play. Because everyone worked so hard and achieved our goals, teachers proudly presented awards for Best in Singing, Best in Dancing, and Best in Acting. We are delighted with their progress and cannot wait to show you the results on stage!
ピアニカの練習だけでなく、SSクラスは歌やダンス、お芝居の練習でも大にぎわい。クリスマスショーの劇に向けて、子どもたちは歌や動き、演技に自信をもって取り組みました。しっかりと目標を達成したご褒美として、先生たちから「ベストソング賞」「ベストダンス賞」「ベスト演技賞」が贈られました。その成長ぶりに感動し、本番のステージがますます楽しみになりました！
This week’s UOI focused on understanding the needs of plants and how we can help them grow. The Shooting Star students became young scientists as they planted radish seeds and discussed essential elements like sunlight, water, and air. We also continued observing the lettuce and flowers in our garden, making sure they were growing well and receiving proper care.
The day after planting, the children excitedly checked their seeds. When they noticed no changes, many commented, “It didn’t grow because we didn’t water them yesterday.” Recognizing this, the children worked together to get water and care for their plants—demonstrating inquiry, responsibility, and teamwork.
今週のUOI（探究学習）では、「植物が育つために必要なもの」をテーマに学びました。子どもたちは小さな科学者となり、ラディッシュの種を植え、日光・水・空気といった大切な要素について話し合いました。また、園の庭で育てているレタスやお花の観察も続け、しっかりお世話ができているか確認しました。
翌日、子どもたちはさっそく自分たちの種を見に行きました。まだ変化がないことに気づくと、「昨日お水あげなかったから、育たなかったんだ」と気づく姿も。そこで、みんなで協力し合い、水をくんでお世話をする姿が見られ、探究心・責任感・チームワークをしっかり発揮していました。
Gym time and outdoor play gave students wonderful opportunities to run, move, and build gross motor skills. They especially enjoyed their time at the park, exploring the space and playing creatively with friends.
ジムレッスンや外遊びの時間では、思いきり走ったり動いたりして、体を大きく使う練習を楽しみました。公園の時間は特に人気で、広いスペースを探索したり、友だちと創造的に遊んだりしていました。
We ended our week with a warm and memorable event—our Sweet Potato (Yakiimo) Party at Mr. Koyama’s farm! This year felt even more special because families joined us in this lovely autumn tradition. The children enjoyed wrapping sweet potatoes in wet newspapers and foil before cooking them. While waiting, they spent time playing with their parents and friends, soaking up the fresh air and nature. Before enjoying the delicious yakiimo, the Shooting Star students performed one of our favorite songs, “Yesterday’s Dream,” as a sweet gift to their parents. It was a joyful and meaningful moment for everyone.
そして週の締めくくりは、心温まる特別なイベント——小山さんの畑での「焼きいもパーティー」でした！今年はご家族にも参加していただき、秋の恒例行事がさらに特別なものになりました。子どもたちは、濡らした新聞紙とアルミホイルでさつまいもを包み、焼けるのをわくわくしながら待ちました。待っている間は、自然の中でお父さん・お母さん、友だちと楽しく遊ぶ姿が見られました。焼きいもの前には、子どもたちからの心のこもったプレゼントとして、「Yesterday’s Dream」を披露しました。とても温かく、記憶に残るひとときとなりました。
This week was filled with music, learning, exploration, and heartwarming memories. Our Shooting Star students continue to shine brightly as they grow in confidence, curiosity, and independence.
