Nagano Aurora: Safety First, Fun Always!(February 23dr-27th)

Hello everyone!

For the Unit of Inquiry (UOI), the students took the center stage for a very special, proudly presented their Show and Tell, centered on road safety, and our youngest learners proved that you’re never too small to understand how to stay safe. By doing the show and tell, this helps us build

Confidence: Standing in front of peers helps build self-esteem.

Communicating: translating the visual idea of their pictures into spoken words is a huge milestone for their age, and

Empathy and Responsibility: teach the students that their actions matter and that we all look out for one another.

We always kept in mind the most important rule when crossing the road, which is “Stop!, Look left, right, left!, Listen, and Think!”

We went for a community walk to observe road safety signs and discuss why they are important and how they help keep us safe. We also had a real-life experience practicing crossing the street safely with the safety flag. The children learned the purpose of the flag: to make pedestrians more visible to drivers, and practiced how to hold and use it properly while crossing. This helped them understand how the flag supports safe road crossing. We saw many signs along the road and knew their meaning. We also talked about the bus stop, how to wait safely, and the rules for taking a bus. Lastly, we learned the meaning of the schedule written on the bus stop.

We also had fun playing the Red Light, Green Light Game. We liked this game recently and always had so much fun.

After our meaningful walk around the community, where we carefully observed and learned about road safety, we headed to the nearby park for some well-deserved playtime. 🏞️🛝🌳✨
We were excited to move freely, explore, and enjoy the fresh air after applying their safety knowledge in real-life situations. Playing at the park not only brought lots of laughter and smiles but also supported their physical development, social skills, and teamwork.
It was a perfect balance of learning and fun—ending our day with joyful moments together!

For our phonics time, we reviewed the alphabet sounds and practiced recognizing and writing our numbers in the correct order. We focused on proper formation and taking our time to write neatly.

Some of us are still working on improving our writing skills, but we are proud to see our progress. With practice, patience, and our best effort, we continue to grow more confident each day. Keep it up, everyone!📚

Thank you for your time, and see you again next time!
