Exploring Creativity Through Puppets 🎭
After finishing Unit 3: How We Express Ourselves, the children became very interested in creating their own puppet show. Using what they learned from the unit, they explored different ways to express ideas, feelings, and stories through performance.
The children also made their own picture puppets, drawing and designing characters to bring their ideas to life. This made the puppet show even more meaningful, as the puppets were created from their own imagination.
This time, the children focused on sound effects and voice projection. They practiced using deep, scary voices to act as monsters or bad guys, and soft, gentle voices to sound like a baby. The room was filled with excitement as they experimented with different sounds and voices.
One child took on the role of a director, confidently telling her friends what to do and when to play the sound effects. There was also a storyteller, who helped create the story, and a show opener, who welcomed the audience and started the performance.
The children were especially excited to perform because they had a bigger audience. We invited the Shooting Star class to watch the show, which made the experience even more special.
Through this experience, the children demonstrated creativity, teamwork, and confidence. It was wonderful to see them applying their learning in a fun and meaningful way.

Beginning Our New Unit: Growth 🌱
We have also started our new unit about Growth. As a provocation activity, the children watched two short video clips showing how people grow over time. Each video was made by putting together portraits of one person from 0 to 20 years old and another from 0 to 18 years old.
The children quickly noticed that the videos showed children growing up. When asked how they knew this, they shared thoughtful ideas. They explained that the age increased and that the faces, hair, and bodies changed over time. Their observations led to a rich discussion about how people grow and change.
During the discussion, the children also talked about what helps us grow healthy, and eating vegetables was emphasized as an important part of growing strong and well.
This provocation sparked curiosity and questions about growth, and the children are eager to learn more. This inquiry will continue as we explore the unit together until the end of the term.

Ending the Week with Outdoor Play 🌲❄️
We ended the week by spending time at the park and the school playground. The children enjoyed picking up pine cones and collecting pine leaves, using them as pretend pasta and bird’s nests during their play.
The children also had a wonderful time playing with the snow. They worked together to shovel the snow and pile it up, showing teamwork, creativity, and lots of enthusiasm. Outdoor play gave the children a chance to explore, imagine, and enjoy nature together as we wrapped up a busy and exciting week.
