The first week back to school was filled with excitement and new beginnings. We started with a warm welcome ceremony for our Grade 1 students, gathering together in the Mountain Room to greet our new friends in the elementary school.
There was a wonderful sense of community as students, teachers, and staff came together to make everyone feel included and supported. For our Grade 1 students, it marked an important first step into elementary school.
Throughout the week, classrooms focused on building relationships and settling into routines. It was a joyful start to the year, and we look forward to many more meaningful moments ahead.

We also began our first inquiry unit by exploring our prior knowledge about weather. Students shared words and phrases they associate with weather, then created two sentences to define weather in their own understanding. To deepen their learning, we went outside for two mornings to observe patterns in the sky, encouraging students to look closely and share their observations.

As the weather began to clear, we also enjoyed a trip to Obuse Park with all the classes. With spring finally here, it was a perfect day to enjoy the sunshine, play together, and appreciate the beauty of the season.

Another exciting highlight was being grouped into three houses. Each house worked together to create its own name and logo: Snowy Long-Tailed Tit, Thunderbird, and Firemoon. This house system encourages students to collaborate, support one another, and build a strong sense of teamwork and community.

It was a joyful and engaging start to the year, and we look forward to many more meaningful learning moments ahead. 🌱
