This week was packed with energy, laughter, and hands-on learning as we brought our summer school to a joyful close. From our exciting field trip on Monday to creative activities back at school, students embraced every moment with enthusiasm and curiosity.
Day 1: Tangram Adventure at Madarao
We kicked off the week with a fantastic field trip to Tangram in Madarao, where students spent the day playing at the Kids Park. With the sun shining and energy high, the kids rotated through a variety of fun-filled activities.
They splashed in the shallow pool, bounced on the trampoline and bouncy castle, and tested their balance on kick scooters and skateboards. One of the most exciting moments of the day was a special foam event—the pool area was sprayed with soft, fluffy foam, turning it into a giant bubble playground! Students laughed, ran, and dove through the foam with pure delight.
After a full morning of play and movement, we gathered for a light meal before making our way back to school, tired but smiling. It was the perfect way to start our second week—full of laughter, teamwork, and summer fun.
週の始まりは、斑尾タングラムへの素晴らしい遠足からスタートしました。子どもたちは一日中キッズパークで思いきり遊びました。
浅いプールで水遊びをしたり、トランポリンやふわふわ遊具で跳ねたり、キックスクーターやスケートボードでバランスに挑戦したりと、アクティビティは盛りだくさん。中でも一番盛り上がったのは、特別イベントの「泡まみれタイム」！プールエリアにふわふわの泡がたっぷり撒かれ、巨大なバブル遊び場に変身しました。生徒たちは泡の中を走り回ったり飛び込んだりして、笑顔が絶えませんでした。
午前中いっぱい遊んだあとは、軽食をとって学校へ帰りました。笑い声とチームワーク、そして夏らしい楽しさに包まれた最高の2週目のスタートでした。
Day 2: Bug Hunt and Dioramas
Tuesday morning, we set out around the school grounds for an exciting bug hunt. Students teamed up to search for insects, helping each other spot and catch bugs, then sharing their discoveries. It was wonderful to see the teamwork and curiosity as they explored nature up close.
In the afternoon, we switched from exploring the outdoors to creating miniature worlds indoors. Using a variety of materials, each student designed their own diorama. It was intriguing to see how distinct their ideas were, with each one uniquely reflecting their imagination.
火曜日の午前中は、学校の周りを歩きながら虫探しをしました。生徒たちは協力し合って虫を探し、捕まえ、そして見つけた虫を仲間とシェアしました。自然を間近に観察しながら協力する姿はとても印象的でした。
午後は屋内に戻り、ミニチュアの世界「ジオラマ作り」に挑戦。さまざまな材料を使って、それぞれが自由にデザインしました。個性あふれるアイデアが形になり、一つひとつが生徒たちの想像力を映し出していました。
Day 3: Watermelon Smash and Postcards
The weather forecast showed rain in the afternoon, so we moved our watermelon smash to the morning. To make it extra fun, students had to draw a slip of paper to find out what they could use to hit the watermelon—spatulas, pool noodles, rubber bats, and the classic wooden stick all made an appearance. Laughter and cheers erupted as each student took their turn.
In the afternoon, we got creative with oversized postcards. On one side, students painted colorful designs, and on the other, they wrote a special message to someone of their choice. Some wrote to family, others to friends, and a few even wrote to future selves.
午後の天気予報が雨だったため、スイカ割りは午前中に行いました。さらに、くじを引いてスイカを割る道具を決めるというルールを追加！ヘラ、プールヌードル、ゴムバット、定番の木の棒など、さまざまな道具で挑戦しました。一人ひとりが順番に挑戦するたびに、大きな歓声と笑いが響き渡りました。
午後は特大ポストカード作り。片面にはカラフルな絵を描き、もう片面には自由にメッセージを書きました。家族や友達、未来の自分宛てなど、宛先はさまざまでした。
Day 4: Dance, Sushi, and Festival Prep
Thursday began with learning the Nakano Shon Shon festival dance. Step by step, students picked up the movements until the rhythm and style came naturally.
Later, we welcomed a special guest who taught us how to make sushi rolls with a surprise inside—a character design! The frog-shaped sushi was both adorable and delicious. We ended the day crafting decorations for our big festival the next day, filling the room with bright colors and excitement.
木曜日は、中野しょんしょん祭りの踊りを練習することから始まりました。ステップを一つずつ覚えていき、リズムに乗って自然に踊れるようになりました。
その後、特別ゲストを迎えてキャラクター入りの巻き寿司作りに挑戦！かわいいカエル型の寿司は見た目も味も大満足。午後は翌日の大きなお祭りに向けた飾り作りを行い、教室は色とりどりの装飾とワクワク感でいっぱいになりました。
Day 5: ISN Nakano Campus Shon Shon Festival
We wrapped up the week with our very own Shon Shon Festival! Students enjoyed a variety of festival booths—yo-yo, balloon fishing, super ball scooping, cotton candy, shaved ice, a mystery box, and baby castella making. Face painting added a splash of color to the day, with everyone proudly showing off their designs.
The festival was a joyful celebration, filled with laughter, delicious treats, and happy memories. It was the perfect ending to another amazing week of summer school.
最終日は、みんなが楽しみにしていたISN中野キャンパス・しょんしょん祭り！ヨーヨー釣り、スーパーボールすくい、わたあめ、かき氷、ミステリーボックス、ベビーカステラ作りなど、盛りだくさんの屋台が並びました。フェイスペイントでは、かわいく、かっこよく、思い思いのデザインを顔に描き、笑顔があふれていました。
笑い声、美味しいおやつ、そしてたくさんの楽しい思い出に包まれた最高のフィナーレとなりました。
As the second week came to an end, so did this year’s summer school. We are so proud of how each student learned, played, and grew over the past two weeks. From new friendships to exciting experiences, these days were filled with moments that will be remembered long after summer fades. We wish everyone a wonderful rest of the holiday, and we look forward to welcoming our students back for the start of the new school term!
2週間の楽しいプログラムも、ついに今年は幕を閉じました。この期間、生徒たちが学び、遊び、成長していく姿を見ることができ、とても誇らしく思います。新しい友達、わくわくする体験、そして忘れられない瞬間の数々——夏が終わっても、この思い出はずっと心に残ることでしょう。残りの夏休みも素敵に過ごし、新学期に元気な姿で会えることを楽しみにしています。
