さて朝ごはんには、1日目の夕方にスーパーマーケットで購入したものを皆でいただきました！

そうです✨オーストラリアの地元スーパー初探索です！🛍オーストラリアはフルーツの種類が豊富で皆楽しそうに現地のスーパーマーケットで買い物しました。（このツアーでは、全日3食の費用も含まれています。）

朝ごはんを食べながら、皆でこの日の流れや注意点を確認します。

具体的には、この日の各自の目標を決める！1日を目標なくなんとなく過ごすと、せっかくの機会も学びが半減してしまいます。

毎日の目標決め、そして振り返りを皆でそして各自でしっかりと行うことが重要です✏-

Day 2は、「Taronga Zoo」というシドニー最古で最大級、そして最も有名な動物園で1日を過ごしました。Taronga Zooへは、シドニー中心地からフェリーで約15分です🚢フェリーでの移動では、サーキュラーキー駅から乗車し、海から間近にオペラハウスやハーバーブリッジ、ルナパークなどを見ることができます♪

ISNチームも、すぐ隣に見える本物のオペラハウスに大興奮でした。

Taronga Zoo到着後、早速園内の見学に回ります。

（前日の夜は久しぶりにベッドで眠ることができて皆体力を回復していました！✨）

Study Tourですから、ただ動物園を見学するだけではありません。Mr.Coreyが作ってくれたワークシートを解きながら行動します。もちろん、各動物を見つけるスタンプラリーのような簡単なものではなく、動物の特徴や習性を考えながら答えを導き出すものでなかなか難しいものです✏

Mr.CoreyやMr.Frankの説明をしっかりと聞きながら園内を回ります。オーストラリア固有種などを始め、日本の動物園とは全く違う展示方法やショーをとても楽しんでいました。

動物愛護先進国のオーストラリアでは、ショーの見せ方も違いました。

また、現地のショーは全編英語です。通訳を通すことなく理解できることは素晴らしいことです。同行したISNスタッフはツアー全体を通してこう考えていました。「今回参加してくれたほとんどの生徒をプレスクール時代から見ていますが、小学部に上がり更にレベルの高い英語を理解できるようになっているからこそ、時差無くその場の雰囲気や熱量を肌で感じることができているのだと改めて気づかされました。」

皆が見たがっていたコアラもたくさん見ることができ大満足の様子でした！

そんな可愛らしいコアラや野生動物を苦しめている、オーストラリアの自然災害をご存じですか？「ブッシュファイアー」と呼ばれる、山火事です。雨の少ないオーストラリアでは乾燥から山火事が起こりやすく、それによって野生動物の生息地が脅かされています。このような生きた学びもStudy Tourで得ることが期待されます🔦

ランチには、ベトナム料理のバインミーというサンドイッチを食べましたが、初めての料理にもかかわらず皆ポジティブに挑戦してくれました！完食した子がほとんどです。

ランチをとっていると、近くに不思議な見た目の鳥を発見！オーストラリアクロトキという種類で街中でもよく見かけます。人を怖がらずにゴミ箱を漁る姿から、向こうでは「Bin Chicken」と呼ばれているそうです。Mr.Coreyが教えてくれました！

リフレッシュも兼ねておいしいスナックタイムもはさみます🍨😋そして皆大好きなお土産選びも楽しみました。

帰りはフェリーではなくバスで宿泊施設の最寄まで向かいました🚌夕食後は、1部屋に集合し、1日のリフレクションを行います。その日の自分の中でのハイライトや日記を書くなどしまとめます✨

大きく体調を崩すこともなく無事に2日目も過ごせました。

翌日以降も無理をせずに活動していきますよ！

Have you all seen the prologue and Day 1 of our Sydney Tour? ☺

Let’s keep moving forward! 🐨🍃

For breakfast, we all enjoyed food we had bought together at a local supermarket the previous evening!

That’s right✨—our very first exploration of an Australian supermarket! 🛍 Australia has a wide variety of fruits, and everyone had fun shopping at the local store. (All meals for the duration of the tour are included in the package.)

While eating breakfast, we also reviewed the day’s schedule and important points together.

Specifically, we each set a personal goal for the day! Spending the day without a clear objective can make this valuable experience less meaningful.

That’s why it’s important to set daily goals and reflect on them—both as a group and individually. ✏

On Day 2, we spent the whole day at Taronga Zoo, Sydney’s oldest, largest, and most famous zoo.
It’s about a 15-minute ferry ride from central Sydney 🚢. On the ferry ride from Circular Quay, we got a great view of the Opera House, the Harbour Bridge, and Luna Park from the water♪

The ISN team was thrilled to see the real-life Opera House right up close!

Upon arriving at Taronga Zoo, we immediately began exploring the grounds.

(Everyone had gotten a good night’s sleep in a proper bed the night before, so they were feeling refreshed and energized! ✨)

But since this is a Study Tour, we weren’t just there to walk around the zoo.
We worked through worksheets prepared by Mr. Corey while observing the animals. And no—they weren’t just simple stamp rally-style worksheets. These were challenging tasks that required students to think about each animal’s characteristics and behavior ✏

As we toured the zoo, we carefully listened to the explanations from Mr. Corey and Mr. Frank.
Everyone really enjoyed seeing Australia’s native species and learning how the exhibits and shows differ from those in Japanese zoos.

Australia, being a leader in animal welfare, presents animal shows in a very different way.

Also, all the shows at the zoo were conducted entirely in English. It was truly impressive how the students were able to understand them without translation.
The ISN staff reflected throughout the tour: “We’ve watched most of these students grow up since preschool, and now that they’re in the elementary division, they’re capable of understanding much more advanced English. That’s why they’re able to experience the atmosphere and energy of the moment in real time.”

Of course, the students were especially excited to see the koalas, and we saw plenty—everyone was thrilled!

There are more than you might expect, so try researching them!

Did you know that Australia’s wildlife is under threat from natural disasters?
One major issue is called the bushfire, or wildfires. Due to the dry climate in many parts of Australia, wildfires occur frequently, destroying habitats and threatening wildlife.
Experiences like this tour give students the opportunity to learn about real-world environmental issues 🔦

For lunch, we had banh mi, a Vietnamese sandwich. Even though it was a new dish for most of the students, they gave it a try with a positive attitude—and almost everyone finished it!

While eating lunch, we spotted a strange-looking bird nearby. It was an Australian white ibis, a bird commonly seen around town. Since they often scavenge in trash bins and aren’t afraid of people, locals jokingly call them “Bin Chickens”! Mr. Corey told us this fun fact!

Later, we took a break and enjoyed some delicious snacks 🍨😋, followed by a shopping time that everyone loved—buying souvenirs!

Instead of taking the ferry back, we rode a bus to our accommodation 🚌.
After dinner, we gathered in one room for a reflection session. Each student wrote in their journal and shared the highlight of their day✨

Everyone stayed healthy and safely completed Day 2.

We’ll continue at a steady pace for the following days!
