さあ、皆さん！少し間が空いてしまいましたがSydney Study Tour、Day5の様子をお届けいたします！🌞
少し湿った1日の始まりでしたが、今日は体験型アクティビティに挑戦しますから、子どもたちも午前中のレッスンに真剣に取り組みます。 本日のレッスンは、オーストラリア先住民「アボリジニ」に関する内容です📝

と、その前に💡
クラスルームまでの移動中に、現地の甘い誘惑…ヨーグルトソフトクリーム🍦へ寄り道です！✨
日本にはないようなトッピングやお店のコンセプトに皆目をキラキラさせていて、このお店ではトッピングを自由に選び載せ放題なのでお腹を壊さない程度に気を付けながら、でも、思い思いにアレンジを楽しんでいました！
朝からこのスイーツ、なかなか味わえませんよね！💦
写真をよく見ていただくと、ホワイトチョコレートのソースが蛇口から出ているのが分かりますね？！出続けるソースにビックリ＆感動しながらこの時間を楽しんでいました♪
内容を載せきれないので残念ですが、このようにツアー中はスナックやお土産を買ったり、楽しむ時間もしっかり設けています🎁

本日のレッスンは、オーストラリア先住民「アボリジニ」に関する内容です。 午後に行う本日のハイライト、アボリジニドットペイント体験に向けて、アボリジニの歴史や文化について学びました。 アボリジニ文化は、6万年以上続く世界最古の文化の一つで、土地や自然との深い精神的なつながりを特徴としています。文字を持たないアボリジニは、「ドリームタイム（夢の時間）」と呼ばれる神話や、カンガルーの狩りなど生活の知恵を、歌や踊り、絵画、ボディペイント、そして「ディジュリドゥ」という独特の管楽器の演奏を通じて伝承してきました。現在も伝統的な儀式や芸術活動が盛んに行われ、文化遺産として世界的に注目を集めています。 オーストラリアは世界中の中でも多文化共生国で知られています。 様々な人種や宗教や背景を持つ人々と皆で分かち合って暮らしています。このツアーの中でも移動中や博物館、ビーチなどいろいろな場所で様々な人に出会いました。 ツアー前半に訪れたTaronga Zooに向かう道中、アボリジニの文化の一つである楽器「ディジュリドゥ」を演奏するアボリジニパフォーマーも見かけました！！🎷どのような見た目、音色なのか皆さん是非調べてみてくださいね。きっとそのユニークな音色にびっくりするはずです！😲✨

そして午後には、アボリジニの文化の一つ、ドットペイント体験をしました！ ペイントするものは、同じくアボリジニ文化の一つ、ブーメランです。オーストラリアといえばよくこのブーメラン型のお土産が売られていますよね。 アボリジニ先住民は狩りをする際にとても大きなブーメランで獲物を仕留めます。 今回はペイント体験用のブーメランでしたが、本物のブーメランは重厚で投げるのにも一苦労と推測できるような見た目をしています。 更に今回、実際にブーメランを使用して的（獲物）にどうやって当てるのかという動画も鑑賞しました。コントロールやテクニックがとても難しそうでした。

児童は思い思いのデザインをまずは下書きとして書き起こしていきます。
オーストラリアをモチーフにしたり、植物をモチーフにしたり、抽象的なデザインにも挑戦する姿がとても真剣でした。
このドットペイントは、実は筆の部分を使用しません。では何で描くの…？といいますと、実は筆の柄の部分に絵の具を付けてドットを描きます。その際、少しドットが浮き上がり、アートをより印象的に仕上げることができます🎨

その後夕食は大きなショッピングモール内のフードコートで自分たちでそれぞれ食べたいものを注文しました！
おいしそうなメキシカンタコス、大きいですね！

また、モール内を散策する時間もあったので自分や家族、友人へのお土産を購入したりしました♪

ツアーの前半がとてもアクティブだったので、本日は少しだけスローな学びの一日を過ごしました。

It’s been a little while, but we’re excited to share with you the events of Day 5 of our Sydney Study Tour!

The day started off a bit cloudy, but since today involves hands-on activities, the children were especially focused and engaged during the morning lessons.

Today’s lesson theme was Australia’s Indigenous People—the Aboriginal Australians.

In preparation for the highlight of the afternoon—Aboriginal Dot Painting Experience—the students learned about Aboriginal history and culture.

Aboriginal culture is one of the oldest continuous cultures in the world, with a history spanning over 60,000 years. It is characterized by a deep spiritual connection to the land and nature.
Without a written language, Aboriginal people have passed down their myths known as “Dreamtime,” as well as practical knowledge such as kangaroo hunting techniques, through songs, dances, paintings, body art, and the playing of a unique wind instrument called the didgeridoo.
Even today, traditional ceremonies and artistic expressions are actively practiced and are recognized globally as valuable cultural heritage.

Australia is also known as one of the world’s most multicultural countries, where people of diverse races, religions, and backgrounds live together in harmony.
Throughout this tour—in transit, at museums, at the beach, and various other places—we’ve had the chance to encounter and interact with many different kinds of people.

On the way to Taronga Zoo, which we visited earlier in the tour, we even came across an Aboriginal performer playing the didgeridoo, one of the many aspects of Aboriginal culture!

But before that… 💡
On our way to the classroom, we couldn’t resist a quick detour to enjoy one of the local sweet temptations—frozen yogurt! 🍦✨

The students were wide-eyed with excitement at the shop’s concept and the kinds of toppings you’d never find in Japan. At this place, you can freely choose and load up your own toppings, so while being careful not to overdo it, everyone had a great time customizing their own creations just the way they liked!

After all, having a sweet treat like this first thing in the morning is quite the rare experience, isn’t it? 💦
If you take a close look at the photos, you might notice something amazing—the white chocolate sauce was flowing straight from a tap! Everyone was amazed and delighted by the never-ending stream of sauce and really enjoyed this unique moment.

Unfortunately, we can’t share every fun detail here, but rest assured—the tour also includes plenty of time for snacks, souvenirs, and simply having fun! 🎁

**In the afternoon, we had a special experience—**we tried our hand at one of the key elements of Aboriginal culture: Dot Painting!

What we painted on was another iconic part of Aboriginal heritage—the boomerang.
When you think of Australia, boomerang-shaped souvenirs often come to mind, don’t they?

Traditionally, Aboriginal people used large, heavy boomerangs for hunting. While the ones we painted were designed just for the experience, the real hunting boomerangs are quite hefty and look like they’d be challenging to throw effectively.

To deepen our understanding, we also watched a video showing how real boomerangs are thrown to hit targets (or game). It was clear from the footage that it takes a lot of control, skill, and technique to master the throw.

The students began by sketching out their own unique designs.
Some chose to feature Australian-themed motifs, others were inspired by plants, and some even challenged themselves with abstract patterns—everyone was deeply focused and fully immersed in the creative process.

Interestingly, in dot painting, you don’t use the brush tip at all.
So, what do you paint with…? The answer might surprise you: you use the back end of the brush! By dipping the handle into the paint and dotting it onto the surface, the dots are slightly raised, creating a textured effect that makes the artwork even more striking🎨

The students were thrilled to be able to take home a handmade souvenir they created themselves 😊

Since the first half of the tour was quite active, today offered a bit of a slower pace—a day of thoughtful learning and creativity.

an exchange visit with a local public primary school!
