What makes the dream work? Rainforest 07/29- 08/02

As the whole class continues their journey inquiring about teamwork, they have come up with their own definition of the word. Having in mind the provocation activities, they have concluded that teamwork is being principled; listening, and talking to each other. Thinking ideas with the team. Helping each other. Not fighting. Connect and play with each other. Teamwork is to be caring. It is about being healthy and observing well-being.

After ensuring everyone knew what teamwork meant, the whole class finally hopped on to the next level of the inquiry, looking for information about the causes of conflict. But what is conflict?

The word was easily understood by the inquirers with the help of the Sesame Street Characters, who acted out what a conflict is. After getting the meaning, our inquirers assessed how much they knew about the Causes of Conflict using the SOLO TAXONOMY Assessment. It is so surprising that most of them said that they are in the relational stage: this is their first time being exposed to the stage, but as knowledgeable as they are, they could understand its meaning and use right away.

For reading this week, we read a decodable book called Nan and Pap, the book is an easy read for the level of this class, but that is fine, as the cliche goes: Practice makes perfect. We will read the book again next week but will put some twists to make it more fun.

For Phonics, we are now ready to practice sounding the vowel teams! For this week and next week, we will be looking for words with long a vowel team which are /ai/ and /ay/.
