As our morning circle song goes, “I’m good, I’m great…. I’m tired, I’m not so good.” We have many different feelings – some good and some not so good. We played a game The Colour Monster feels… HAPPY! Jump and clap! With picture cards, Canyon sorted out the GOOD (thumbs up) and NOT SO GOOD (thumbs down) feelings. Happy, In love, Calm, Excited, Wonderful vs Angry, Sad, Afraid, Grumpy.

We made a colour monster craft with a crayon resist method – watercolour over oil pastel crayons. Canyon tried using watercolour for the first time. We had a relaxing time painting the monsters. Each student had to choose 2 different types of feeling – one good, and the other not so good (happy, angry or calm, sad). Then we made a Colour Monster stick puppet!

Canyon has been making drawings of feelings and describing them in detail. Look at his face, how do you know that he is sad? How can you see that she is happy? How can you show that you are angry? Canyon says: “eyebrows going up, eyebrows going down, eyes are big. Mouths turning up, mouths upside down, zigzag mouths. Mouths open, just a line… a smile “. We discovered many wonderful and creative artists in Canyon. We are so proud of Canyon!

CALENDAR & MAGIC WORDS
It is a new month and Canyon helped with organising the calendar. This gives us the opportunity to practise counting and to find out who the birthday boys and girls are for the month! As for the weather, this week has been really foggy. The clouds are coming down to the roads and river! The class learned a new weather word ‘foggy’ – “It’s foggy today.” We have also been talking about the 12 months in a year and singing it.
Canyon has been minding their manners and using magic words like “may I, please, thank you, you’re welcome, I’m sorry, that’s ok”. (Please see the songs below.) Till next week, take care and have a wonderful weekend!
