CANYON: Flying High! February 23-27

Canyon was so excited the whole week in anticipation of our UOI fieldtrip to Shinshu Matsumoto Airport! We had a pre-fieldtrip discussion. Someone asked, “Are we flying in an airplane?” Hmmm, we wish! In the classroom, we ‘visited’ the airport with Google Map. Canyon wanted to see and some colourful airplanes (aeroplane in British English). FDA, JAL what planes can we see on Friday, we wondered. The day finally came! Canyon: FDA! MATSUMOTO airport! I can see grey airplane. Look at the engines. It’s loud! Three wheels! I can see the pilot! Big wings, and the tail.

We saw other vehicles too. We toured the services in the airport – a souvenir shop, restaurant and air ticket counters. Fun Fact: Shinshu Matsumoto Airport at 657.5 meters above sea level, is the highest commercial airport in Japan! Ichiban!

UOI – WORK VEHICLES & TRANSPORT DICTIONARY

Farm tractors, car carriers, and wing trucks are work vehicles that transport our things and work for us. Canyon learned that these vehicles have big wheels and powerful engines. In My Transport Dictionary colouring sheet, airship and space shuttle were added to our vocabulary. We coloured in the names of the different transport too. HINADOLL CRAFT

March 3 will be Hinamatsuri, or Doll’s Day. Canyon is creating beautiful origami princes and princess. This festival prays for the health, happiness and prosperity of young girls… including all young girls at heart! Till next week, take care and have a lovely weekend.
