CANYON: Open Day…open hearts! February 16-20

THANK YOU dear Parents for making time for the final open day of the school year! With open hearts, Canyon welcomed one and all. Happy and proud, Canyon presented a glimpse of our literacy lesson. Shy but glad to share, some students presented their 3D craftwork. Thank you once again, parents and siblings for helping create the clever 3D vehicles and aircrafts.

UOI – COUNTING and GROUPING

How many cars are there? How many buses? How many aeroplanes? Are they air, land or sea transport? Canyon counted and grouped the different types of transport they made. We also learned the names of the people who drive these vehicle. A PILOT flies a plane, a Captain steers a ship and a DRIVER drives a bus, car, train and truck. We pretended to be these drivers, pilots and captains! We documented our knowledge with a picture-sorting activity. We grouped the various types of air, sea and land transport.

UOI – ROAD SAFETY

Our next line of inquiry is about moving safely — Transport helps people and things get from one place to another safely.
Road safety means following rules that keep pedestrians and drivers safe to avoid accidents. Canyon practised safe crossing. STOP, LOOK, ARM UP… walk when you see a GREEN man for the pedestrian signal lights. We have been watching a Road Safety video and discussing the traffic rules that keep us safe.

MUSIC, GYM & ALPHABET REVIEW

For Music, Canyon practised tapping to the beats of the music. For Gym, it was a zig zag balancing act of hopping across the ropes. Good job, Canyon! We also reviewed the 26 letters of the alphabet and read a book about Jj. This is a set of early phonics and vocabulary building books from our literacy resource Reading A to Z. Till next Tuesday, have a fabulous long weekday!
