It was a short and gloomy week, but it was never dull for the Savanna class!

雨降りでどんよりとした日が多かったですが、今週も学びと笑顔がいっぱいのサバナクラス！

This week, our inquiry into living and non-living things continued. To gather more resources, the Savanna class visited the library and explored books that could help them learn more about the topic. They were especially excited to pick books about animals and bugs that caught their interest.

今週も「living and non-living things（生きているものと生きていないもの）」の探究を続けました。もっと学びを深めるために、クラスのみんなで図書館へ行き、このテーマについての本を探しました。特に動物や虫に関する本に興味津々で、楽しそうに選んでいたサバンナさん達。

After observing the pictures in the books, we had a discussion and collected questions from the students. Some of their questions included: Why do animals eat other animals? Why can animals move by themselves? Are stones made by people? Are teddy bears living things? and more. We will explore these questions as we dive deeper into the inquiry. To start, we focused on a question that sparked a lively debate: Are trees living or non-living things? They don’t have a heart or move—so are they non-living? The children are very excited to find the answers!

図書館で見つけた本を見た後、みんなで話し合い、子どもたちの質問を集めました。
例えば、「どうして動物は他の動物を食べるの？」「どうして動物は自分で動けるの？」「石は人が作ったもの？」「テディベアは生きているもの？」など…。集まった質問はいつでも見返せるよう、ワンダーウォールに掲示しています。これからUOIを進めていく中で、少しずつ答えやヒントを見つけていけることでしょう。子どもたちは、自分たちの疑問を探っていくことをとても楽しみにしています！

In Phonics, we learned a new word family: /ub/ – /ut/. The children found the activity easy because they had already mastered sounding out each letter and blending them. We couldn’t be prouder of their progress!

フォニックスでは、新しいワードファミリー「/ub/ – /ut/」を学びました。子どもたちは、すでに一文字ずつの音を理解し、つなげて読むことができるので、とても簡単に感じたようです。私たちも、子どもたちの成長にとても誇りを感じています。
