The Rainforest class had a collaboration day with the Milky Way class from the Minami campus, and we visited a Japanese elementary school. It was a wonderful learning experience and a great opportunity for our preschoolers to observe how things work in an elementary school setting and to see how students spend their entire day at school. The visit helped them gain a better understanding of what to expect as they prepare for the next stage of their learning journey.
We started our day on a positive and energetic note by doing Zumba and yoga exercises during our morning circle time. The children enjoyed moving their bodies, stretching, and following along with the routines. These activities helped wake them up, boost their energy, and improve their focus, setting a happy, calm, and active mood for the rest of the day.

In our Unit of Inquiry, we discussed red, yellow, and green foods and how each group helps keep our bodies healthy. The children then took part in a short quiz to check their understanding. After that, we did the ‘My Healthy Plate’ activity, where they drew a balanced meal by choosing foods from each group. We also talked about emotional health, focusing on the importance of resting and sleeping as essential components of overall well-being. The children shared their ideas and learned that getting enough rest and sleep helps our body, brain, and emotions regain energy, allowing us to feel better, focus more, and do more activities throughout the day.

Germs Experiment
The children learned how to protect their bodies from harmful germs through two experiments. First, we used glitter to represent germs. Each group put different colors of glitter on their hands and then shook hands with their friends and touched various objects such as tables and water bottles. As a result, their hands ended up covered in many different colors of glitter, helping them realize how easily germs spread through handshakes and by touching shared surfaces.
Next, we floated glitter on the surface of water and then dropped some soap into it. As soon as the soap touched the water, the glitter quickly moved away and disappeared from that spot. Through this experiment, the children were able to understand how important it is to use soap to remove germs.

We also conducted a Stranger Danger drill. The scenario involved older children playing outside when a stranger suddenly appeared. It was truly amazing to see how attentive and mindful our young learners were. As soon as their teachers informed them that there was a stranger, they immediately knew what to do and followed the instructions calmly and carefully. After the drill, we had a discussion about safety and talked about the do’s and don’ts when encountering a stranger. The children actively participated and shared their ideas, showing a good understanding of how to keep themselves safe in such situations.

One of our little ones turned 6 this month! He had a wonderful time celebrating his birthday with his friends on campus. The children enjoyed watching an exciting magic show, learned more about the Setsubun tradition, and happily sang and danced along to an English song. It was a joyful celebration filled with laughter, learning, and special memories.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
