At the end of last week, students celebrated birthdays and learned all about defeating Oni! Now that everyone is prepared, Waterfall students popped on their scary masks and got ready for an unwanted Setsubun visitor. Oni ran in, but the students threw beans and shouted “Go Away!” in big, brave voices! Finally, Oni ran far away!

We are learning that there are many types of transportation and ways to connect! We use transportation to get to each other, the things we need and to find new places. We can travel on the land, in the water and sky! But, where does a rocket fly? The students said “In space!” and “To the moon!” Waterfall students put some stars and the moon onto a bit of dark, black space for the IB Wall. Then, they colored cute little rockets to brighten up the night sky. They counted down to blast-off and sent the rockets up to the moon! Waterfall students are excited to display their transportation in space, but eager for them to land back home soon!

As we are exploring the reasons and ways that we use transportation, Waterfall is also learning how to use transportation safely. They practiced following directions and paying attention. This time, they carefully listened to instructions, step-by-step, and built a working pulley system to move their rockets up to space.

Time to share for Show and Tell! Some students are adding a couple of stickers aboard their buses. Waterfall students have great vehicles and transportation toys, albums and pictures that everyone has enjoyed seeing.

Remember to think about what kind of transportation you and your children can build during Open Day Show and Tell next week! Waterfall students have also prepared a surprise for you!
