Even though we only had four school days this week, our classroom was filled with meaningful learning, cultural sharing, and joyful moments.

今週は登園日が4日間と短い一週間でしたが、教室の中では意味のある学びや文化の共有、そしてたくさんの楽しいひとときにあふれていました。

We had a special opportunity to learn about Christmas in Croatia through Mr. Igor from the Minami Campus. He shared beautiful insights about how Christmas in Croatia is not only about gifts, but deeply rooted in love, family, and togetherness. One of the most interesting things the children learned was that instead of hanging socks for Santa Claus, children in Croatia place their shoes out to receive presents. The students were fascinated by this tradition and excited to compare it with their own holiday experiences.

先週は、南キャンパスのイゴール先生から、クロアチアのクリスマスについて教えてもらいました。クロアチアのクリスマスは、プレゼントだけでなく、「愛」や「家族」、そして「共に過ごす時間」を大切にする文化であることを、分かりやすく教えてくださいました。

子どもたちが特に興味を持ったのは、サンタクロースのために靴下を飾るのではなく、プレゼントをもらうために「靴」を外に置くという伝統です。子どもたちはこの習慣にとても驚き、自分たちのホリデーの過ごし方と比べながら、楽しそうに話し合っていました。クロアチアで有名なクリスマス飾りのクラフトも楽しみましたよ🩷！

To make the experience even more authentic, we tasted a popular Croatian bread that is traditionally eaten during Christmas. The students were curious and brave as they tried something new, and it became such a memorable cultural moment for everyone.

さらに本場の雰囲気を感じられるように、クリスマスに伝統的に食べられているクロアチアの人気のパン「シュトーレン」も試食しました。子どもたちは「どんな味がするのかな？」と興味津々。みんなで一緒に味わうことで、とても心に残る素敵な文化体験となりました。

After learning about Christmas in Croatia, we shifted our focus to St. Valentine’s Day. We talked about expressing love and appreciation for the people who matter most. As a craft activity, the students wrote heartfelt Valentine cards for their parents. It was beautiful to see them carefully choosing their words and decorating their cards with so much intention and love.

クロアチアのクリスマスについて学んだ後は、セント・バレンタインデーについての学びへと活動を広げました。

大切な人に「愛」や「感謝」の気持ちをどのように伝えることができるかをみんなで話し合いながら、クラフト活動では保護者の皆さまへ心を込めたバレンタインカードを作りました。子どもたちは言葉を一つひとつ丁寧に選びながら、思いを込めてカードを飾っていました。その真剣な表情や、あふれる愛情がとても印象的で、温かい時間となりました。

We’ve also begun exploring more 2D shapes, specifically the Gon Family. We counted the number of sides on each polygon, including octagons, heptagons, and nonagons. The Savanna students had a great time creating shapes using their straw toys and enjoyed counting the sides. They also made realistic objects like houses and windows out of these shapes.

また、2Dシェイプ（平面図形）の学びもさらに深め、「ゴンファミリー（多角形）」について探究を始めました。

八角形、七角形、九角形など、それぞれのポリゴン（多角形）の辺の数を数えながら、「何本あるかな？」と楽しみながら確認しました。

サバンナクラスの子どもたちは、ストローのおもちゃを使って実際に形を作り、辺の数を数える活動に夢中になっていました。さらに、その形を組み合わせて家や窓など、身近なものをリアルに表現する姿も見られ、創造力あふれる素敵な時間となりました。

Although it was a shorter week, it was definitely full of fun learning experiences, cultural appreciation, creativity, and connection. We made every day count — and we ended the week with full hearts and colorful minds.

短い一週間ではありましたが、楽しい学びの体験や文化への理解、創造的な活動、そして心のつながりにあふれた充実した日々となりました。

一日一日を大切に過ごし、子どもたちは心を満たし、たくさんの彩り豊かな学びとともに一週間を締めくくることができました。
