Sweet Little Helpers-Waterfall-9.22-9.26

Waterfall students started off this week by jumping for joy after making cool little frog launcher toys. Can you draw a face? Frogs have 2 eyes a nose and a mouth. What can frogs do? They can jump!

What a busy day Waterfall experienced. First there was an  Earthquake Drill, so students  remembered to cover their heads and get under the table. Then, there was a Fire Drill, so students covered their mouths and everyone headed outside. There was a big, red fire truck and firefighters waiting outside to make sure everyone was safe and remembered what to do in case of an emergency.  The Firefighters helped the teachers practice using the fire extinguisher and they showed the students some of the safety equipment in their truck!

In all that excitement, some dogs, cats, cows and other animals escaped! So, Waterfall students went on an Animal Hunt to catch them and put them back where they belong. They found animals that live in the house, on land, in water and sky! Some of the farm animals that the students found are helpful to people. Once all of the animals were collected, students got to play a guessing game with some farm animals. It lives on land, it eats grass and gives us milk! What is it? It’s a cow!

Waterfall students tried some of the products that animals help us with, like eggs and milk. Students were excited to learn about one more helpful animal and its product- honey!  Bees work hard all spring and summer to collect nectar and pollen from flowers so that they have something to eat in the fall and winter. We can help bees by planting lots of flowers so they can make enough honey to share.
