Waterfall- Let it snow! 12.8-12.12

The Central Idea for Unit 3 has been all about expressing and managing our feelings in many ways. We asked students- How are you, Waterfall? -They said, “I’m cold,” but going outside, even all bundled up, is a healthy way to get warm and feel happy! So, Waterfall said let’s play outside! They put on their coats and jumped around the schoolyard in a game of Hopscotch, built towers and kicked around the soccer balls.

LOI 3 is all about how we express our feelings through many outlets in order to manage our emotions and understand ourselves better.  First, Waterfall joined some Canyon students to show off happy feelings and excitement through the Winter Show dances!  Then, Waterfall class filled the  lineup for a festive Show and Tell! Waterfall students are learning appreciation for what makes them happy, proud and confident to share with friends! In fact, one student shared a helpful book about feelings. We read “Why do I (sometimes) feel angry?” for story time and learned that it is okay to be angry, but we can breathe slowly, nap or play outside to change our feelings!

It is not winter without snow, and it is not a holiday season without decorations! While Waterfall students are preparing for their performances, they have also created magical snow globes with happy, excited and surprised snowmen to deck the halls of the theater with during the Winter Show. They are all excited that the enormous moment is almost here – December 17- that is! Enjoy the weekend and let the countdown begin!
