WELCOME TO RAINFOREST CLASS- April 7th-11th

Greetings!

Finally, the new school year has started! On our first day, some shared that they were happy and excited to be in the Rainforest class, while others said they felt shy because it was their first day in the class. It’s quite a busy schedule now for our youngsters, but everyone looks so happy and is enjoying every activity they have in the class.

MORNING CIRCLE TIME

PARK

On a beautiful day, we went to the park to play. Raiforest students played frozen tag, chain tag, ran as fast as they could, and played on the playground equipment. They are good communicators, waiting their turn and inviting their friends to join them.

TENNIS LESSON

The children were excited about their first tennis lesson from the morning! A racket is an essential tool of playing tennis, but if you use it incorrectly, you can hurt yourself or your friends. In their first lesson, they were taught to hold the racket with the head (net side) up, like holding a baby. After getting a proper distance from their friends, there was time to carefully touch the racket to make sure it was firm, and the children tried putting their fingers in the net and holding it up to check its weight. We hope to make the lessons safe and fun.

To start our week, we played a game called “Pass the Microphone.” We formed a big circle and played some music. When the music stopped, the person holding the microphone would introduce themselves in the center. They shared their name, favorite food, color, pet, and others asked them some questions. It was a fun game to get to know each other.

We also talked about our classroom essential agreement. The class was divided into four groups, and each group chose one essential agreement they liked for the class. After that, they worked as a group and drew their ideas about the agreement they chose. Well done!

Freedom to read…

Our young ones had a chance to visit the school library and choose some books they liked for our classroom library. Each of them picked 1 Japanese book and 1 English book. They checked each book thoroughly, brought them to our classroom, and discussed the library rules.

The Rainforest class was invited to the Welcome Ceremony to sing a song and give a message to the new ISN friends. It was a great experience for our youngsters to show their love, excitement, and skills in speaking English. Good job!

This week, we started our UOI lesson where we discussed “Recycling.” First, we had our provocation, where the students shared their ideas about the pictures posted on the board. It was good to know that our little ones have many ideas about the topic and even shared what they learned when they were in Canyon class. Then, for our assessment, we did a “sorting of trash” activity. They were divided into two groups and discussed with their groupmates which trash would go to the “recycle” side and which would go to the “trash” side. We took a photo of their final output and posted it on our IB wall so that as we continue our discussion, they can see and reflect on the activity they did.

JAPANESE LESSON

Here is a picture of our first Japanese class. We went over the correct way to sit when writing, how to raise your hands when speaking, and the correct way to hold a pencil. Everyone was able to sit very nicely!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
