We were absolutely delighted to welcome our parents into the classroom this week for our Open School Day!
Our little inquirers proudly showcased their Phonics and English skills. During the morning meeting, each student confidently shared their favorite fruit in a complete sentence as their name was called. They also helped update the calendar, recited the date, described the weather, and expressed how they were feeling. It was heartwarming to see how much their English abilities have improved, and even more impressive was their confidence in communicating without using any Japanese!

毎日みんなで取り組んでいるフォニックスと英語のスキルを誇らしげに披露した子ども達。朝の会で自分の名前が呼ばれると、自信を持って、好きなフルーツを文章で発表しました。また、カレンダーの日付を付け替え、暗唱し、今日の天気や自分の気持ちも発表しました。誇らしげに英語を話す子ども達の、頑張る姿と嬉しそうな表情に、心温まる思いがしました！
Before wrapping up, our young learners gave a glimpse into how inquiry time works. Each student reflected on the interview they conducted at home, where they asked a family member about their role in the family. Some even took the initiative to ask their parents again on the spot: “What do you do for the family?”
探究を続けている家族について、それぞれおうちで取り組んだインタビューについても振り返しました。そしてもう一度、その場でパパやママに質問！「あなたは家族のために何をしていますか？」
This live inquiry was a wonderful learning moment—not just for the students, but for everyone in the room. It showed that inquiry isn’t just about reading books or searching online; it’s also about asking meaningful questions and listening carefully to others. Some touching answers from parents included:
“I cook breakfast for the family.”
“I take care of the baby.”
“I play with my kids and make our family happy.”
Our students were beaming with pride, hearing their parents respond in English—it was such an encouraging and memorable moment!
Next week is shaping up to be a fun and busy one for Savanna! We have a field trip planned with our friends from Rainforest, and a playdate with Shooting Star friends in Minami. So exciting!
このライブ・インクワイアリーは、子ども達だけでなく、その場にいた全員にとって素晴らしい学びの瞬間となりました。探究とは、やはり本を読んだりネットで検索したりすることだけでなく、相手と会話をし、質問をしたり話を聞く事で進んでいきます。お家の方からの素敵な答えは
「家族のために朝食を作っています。」
「赤ちゃんのお世話をしています。」
「私は子供と遊び、家族と幸せに過ごしています！」
お父さんお母さんの英語での返事を聞いた、子ども達の誇らしげな顔！みんな本当に嬉しそうでした。素敵な時間をありがとうございました。
来週は、サバンナにとって楽しく忙しい1週間になりそうです！レインフォレストのお友だちとのサツマイモの苗植えや、南松本キャンパスのシューティングスタークラスのお友だちとのプレイデートが予定されています。楽しみだね！
