Hello everyone, I hope that you are all doing well. The past two weeks the 1st graders have been working on different aspects of nature, including animals, and different landscapes of the world. We’ve also found ourselves a pretty cool green calendar, that gives us fun and engaging activities to do on different days of the month. We’ve also begun working on Line of Inquiry 2, which is about the importance of nature.
Grade 1 learned about the different types of animals in the animal kingdom. We focused on the 5 different animal categories, mammals, fish, birds, reptiles and amphibians. the students enjoyed this and also created a poster with the different animal categories, along with some examples of those categories.
Grade 1 begun learning about the importance of nature. The students came up with some great points, even saying that nature isn’t only important to human beings, but animals and the entire ecosystem.
The grade 1 found a pretty nice calendar. On this calendar, there are different activities for each day of the month. These activities are meant to connect us with nature that is all around us. For example, on the 1st day, we had to eat our lunch outside. We also had to go outside and collect 5 different leaves, which was pretty fun, and to walk on the grass barefoot.
We’ve also had the grade 6 students visit our classroom during Japanese lessons, and help their young peers. I believe that has been quite a good combination.
I hope that you will enjoy a very good long weekend, drink lots of water and stay cool.
