Happy new year!

I hope you all had wonderful winter breaks and were able to see in the new year with your loved ones close by, in a warm and happy environment!

I was completely blown away by Grade 4’s work on the Year End Performance! The imagination and the passion were second to none I thought! Their growth has been amazing! For the performance they worked hard on adding physicality to their movement on stage and emotion and clarity to their dialogue. They were able to collaborate on two original pieces of music, design their own characters, work on their own lines and visualize the world of the story thru colourful posters and props!

Most importantly they supported each other all the way up to the day of the performance and communicated a great deal of joy from the stage! Magical stuff!

Of course, it’s great to see everyone back at school after the winter holidays and we are already getting well into our next Unit of inquiry, “Where we are in place and time”. The main topic of this unit is exploration, explorers and expeditions. In our first line of inquiry, students have been asked to choose an explorer to research. Some have some ideas and some haven’t decided yet. Of course, I have some famous explorers that I can suggest to students but how about you? What explorers and expeditions are you familiar with? Please discuss any ideas you may have and ask your children what they are thinking!
