Happy New Year everyone! We hope you had a wonderful holiday spent with your loved ones. Everyone went back to school with lots of stories and experiences from their holidays, and we’re excited to start the new year with fun learning, active play, and new challenges for the Shooting Star students!
みなさま、あけましておめでとうございます。
ご家族や大切な方々と、素敵な冬休みを過ごされたことと思います。子どもたちはお休み中のたくさんの思い出や体験を胸に、元気いっぱいで登園してくれました。シューティングスタークラスでは、新しい一年を、楽しい学びや体を動かす活動、そして新しいチャレンジとともにスタートできることをとても楽しみにしています。
This week was filled with meaningful learning experiences, active play, and exciting new challenges for the Shooting Star students.
今週は、シューティングスターの子どもたちにとって、学びの多い充実した一週間となりました。
As a wrap-up for Unit 3: Living and Non-living Things, we connected our learning to the Christmas show play, “The Shepherd Boy and the Wolf.” The students happily remembered their roles and confidently delivered their lines and songs using big voices while the teacher showed the storybook. Since the story was still fresh in their minds, they were able to engage deeply with the activity.
Afterward, students completed a worksheet as their assessment. They chose one living thing from the story, drew it, and identified what it needs to grow and stay alive. They also answered questions such as what they would do to take care of it and what might happen if it was not cared for. Everyone did a great job with both their drawings and answers, showing how much they learned from this unit.
ユニット3「生きているもの・そうでないもの」のまとめとして、クリスマスショーで発表した劇「羊飼いの少年とオオカミ」と学習内容を結びつけた活動を行いました。子どもたちは自分の役をよく覚えており、絵本を読み進める中で、大きな声でセリフや歌を自信をもって発表してくれました。お話の内容がまだ新鮮だったこともあり、活動に深く集中して取り組むことができました。
その後、アセスメントとしてワークシートに取り組みました。物語に出てきた「生きているもの」を一つ選び、絵を描き、それが成長し生きていくために必要なものを書きました。また、「どのようにお世話をするか」「お世話をしなかったらどうなるか」といった質問にも答えました。どの子の絵も答えもとてもよくできており、このユニットで多くのことを学んだ様子が伝わってきました。
On Wednesday, we had a fun and active gym lesson. After warming up with stretching exercises and a game of tag, students practiced jumping rope. They worked on jumping continuously three to five times. At first, it was quite challenging to stay in one place, as many students moved forward or jumped side to side. However, with practice and determination, they improved little by little. By the end of the lesson, everyone was able to jump five times in a row. Great teamwork and perseverance!
水曜日は、元気いっぱいのジムレッスンがありました。ストレッチや鬼ごっこで体を温めた後、大なわとびの練習に挑戦しました。連続して3～5回跳ぶことを目標に取り組みましたが、最初はその場で跳ぶことが難しく、前に進んでしまったり、横に跳んでしまう姿も見られました。それでも、練習とあきらめない気持ちで少しずつ上達し、レッスンの終わりには全員が5回連続で跳べるようになりました。素晴らしいチームワークと粘り強さでした。
On Thursday, we went to the park, and just as we arrived, it began to snow. The Shooting Star students didn’t mind the cold and continued playing happily on the playground. They also had lots of fun flying and catching a kite brought by Ms. Ayako. Although they wanted to play longer, the snow started falling harder, so we headed back to school to make sure everyone stayed warm and dry.
木曜日は公園へ出かけました。到着するとすぐに雪が降り始めましたが、シューティングスターの子どもたちは寒さにも負けず、元気に遊具で遊んでいました。また、Ms.Ayakoが持ってきてくれた凧をあげたり、キャッチしたりして、たくさん楽しみました。もっと遊びたがっていましたが、雪が強くなってきたため、体を冷やさないようスクールへ戻りました。
We also had an exciting milestone this week—we started reading CVC books! The students are truly enjoying this new experience and feel very proud that they can now read a book. We will continue reading next week, and to support their progress, students will be bringing home reading materials so they can practice reading at home as well.
そして今週は、もう一つの嬉しい節目がありました。CVCブックのリーディングレッスンが始まりました。子どもたちはこの新しい学習をとても楽しんでいて、「自分で本が読める」ことに大きな誇りを感じています。来週も引き続きリーディングを行い、ご家庭でも練習できるよう、リーディング教材を持ち帰る予定です。
It was a wonderful week full of learning, movement, and joyful moments. We are so proud of the Shooting Star students and all their hard work! 🌟
