This week was filled with excitement, creativity, and hands-on learning for our Shooting Star students! From spooky phonics fun to a joint Halloween celebration, gardening, and a fun field trip, our students showed curiosity, teamwork, and enthusiasm in everything they did.
今週は、Shooting Starさんたちにとって、ワクワク、クリエイティブ、そして体験型の学びに満ちた1週間でした！ハロウィーンのフォニックス遊びから合同のハロウィーンパーティー、ガーデニングに、楽しいプレイデートまで、子どもたちは好奇心、チームワーク、そして熱意をもってすべての活動に取り組みました。
To kick off the Halloween celebration, we played a Halloween CVC game to practice words from the -ip word family. Students came up with words like lip, hip, zip, dip, and we added sip, rip, and tip.
After practicing, we headed outside for a CVC Monster Hunt! Monster cards with CVC words were hidden, and students had to find them while moving like Halloween characters—flying like a bat, stomping like a monster, or crawling like a spider! It was a fun, active way to practice phonics! 👻
ハロウィーンのお祝いを始めるにあたり、まずはハロウィーンCVCゲームで -ip ワードファミリーの単語を練習しました。子どもたちは「lip（唇）」「hip（腰）」「zip（ファスナー）」「dip（浸す）」などの単語を考え、さらに「sip（ちょっと飲む）」「rip（破く）」「tip（先、チップ）」も加えました。
練習の後は、CVCモンスター・ハントを外で行いました！CVC単語が書かれたモンスターカードを探しながら、子どもたちはハロウィーンのキャラクターのように動きます—コウモリのように飛んだり、モンスターのように踏み歩いたり、クモのように這ったりして！楽しみながらフォニックスを練習する、アクティブな活動になりました。👻
We then had our first joint Halloween party with the Shimauchi Campus! Students enjoyed meeting new friends and playing games together. Everyone tried to break the piñata, and even though it was too strong at first, a very strong dad came to the rescue. Everyone cheered as they got their treat bags! We also took a wonderful class photo to remember the day. 🎃🍬
島内キャンパスとの初めての合同ハロウィーンパーティーを行いました！子どもたちは新しい友だちと出会い、一緒にゲームを楽しみました。みんなでピニャータを割ろうと挑戦しましたが、最初はなかなか割れず、そこへ力持ちのお父さんが登場！無事にお菓子の袋を手に入れた子どもたちは大喜びでした。また、素敵なクラス写真も撮って、思い出に残る一日になりました。🎃🍬
As part of our Unit of Inquiry (UOI) lesson, students planted lettuce and flowers in the garden with Mr. Koyama. They asked thoughtful questions about how to help plants grow and stay healthy. Everyone enjoyed getting their hands a little muddy while learning to care for living things. 🌿🌸
UOI（探究学習）の一環として、子どもたちは小山さんと一緒に庭にレタスと花を植えました。植物を丈夫に育てるにはどうすればよいか、みんなで熱心に質問しながら学びました。少し土で手を汚しながら、生き物のお世話を学ぶ時間を楽しんでいました。🌿🌸
Shooting Star and Savanna students had a fun playdate with Grade 3 students at ISN Gojo Campus. They started with a Living and Nonliving Things Scavenger Hunt, working in groups to find items in nature and circle them on their worksheets. Students practiced identifying living things (“This can move” This can breathe”) and nonliving things (“This will not grow”). After that, Grade 3 students helped guide them in a Halloween Basket Hunt, giving hints for hidden tiny baskets. Everyone had a blast exploring, learning, and making new friends. 🌱👻
さらに、Shooting Starさんたちは島内キャンパスのSavannaのお友達と五常キャンパスで3年生のお友達と楽しいプレイデートをしました。まずは「生きているものと生きていないものの宝探し」で、自然の中からアイテムを探してワークシートに丸をつける活動を行いました。子どもたちは、生きているもの（「動ける」「呼吸できる」）と生きていないもの（「育たない」）を識別する練習をしました。その後はハロウィーンバスケットハント！お兄さん、お姉さんが隠された小さなバスケットのヒントを出してくれました。みんなで探索し、学び、新しい友だちを作る、とても楽しい時間となりました。🌱👻
It was a memorable week filled with learning, laughter, and discovery. From exploring words and celebrating Halloween to caring for plants and enjoying outdoor adventures, our students showed curiosity, teamwork, and a love for learning. We are so proud of their enthusiasm and can’t wait for more exciting activities ahead! 🌟
学びと笑い、発見に満ちた思い出深い一週間でした。言葉を学び、ハロウィーンを楽しみ、植物の世話をし、アウトドアで冒険する中で、子どもたちは好奇心、チームワーク、そして学ぶことへの愛情を示してくれました。子どもたちの熱意を誇りに思い、これからのさらなる楽しい活動が待ちきれません！🌟
