It is said that an apple a day keeps the doctor away. On Wednesday after our bus trip we made our own saying; “ten thousand steps a day keep the doctor away.” Child development specialists have been saying for quite a few years now that children these days don’t walk as much as they used to a decade or so ago. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that walking is beneficial to everyone’s health and it helps build children’s stamina and strengthens their muscles. We walked a lot around Azumino Alps park and everyone was extremely tired by the end of it all. Everyone showed off ther artistic skills by drawing and coloring wooden key rings. Most of all everyone had fun showing off their parents’ bento-making skills ! Those who usually have a hard time finishing their lunch wiped their boxes clean!

児童発達の専門家たちは数年前から、最近の子供たちは十数年前ほど歩かなくなってきていると言っています。歩くことがすべての人の健康に有益であり、子どもたちのスタミナをつけ、筋肉を強化するのに役立つことは、科学者でなくても理解できることでしょう。国営アルプスあづみの公園をたくさん歩いたので、最後にはとても疲れていたAuroraさん。木のコースターに絵を描いたり、色を塗ったりして、みんな芸術的な才能を発揮していました。そして何より、おうちの方が作ってくれたお弁当をみんなに披露するのが楽しかったようです！普段はなかなかランチを食べられない子も、お弁当はピッカピカに食べていました！お弁当をはじめご用意いただきありがとうございました。
Making art with our palms and feet!
As part of our U.O.I, we got a chance to experiment with colors by making handprints and footprints on cardboard boxes! Questions such as: (1) What happens If we mix yellow and red? ,(2) What color can be made from mixing pink and green? etc arose. There’s something very gratifying about actually trying something yourself and finding out the results for yourself. It definitely beats just being told or showed things.
U.O.I.の一環として、ダンボールに手形や足形をつけ、色を試し、表現する活動を取り入れました！次のような質問をしました： (1) 黄色と赤を混ぜたらどうなるか？(2)ピンクと緑を混ぜると何色になる？ などなど。実際に自分でやってみて、その結果を自分で知ることは、とても嬉しいことですね。色を付けた段ボールは今、子どもたちの豊かな発想でトンネル、お家、じゅうたんと形を変えて遊びを盛り上げています！

This week we continued with polishing up our cutting skills with a ladybug craft.

Shonai park
We went to Shonai park on Thursday and there just so happened to be a group of local elementary kids there who were having an excursion. We ran into an ISN graduate and some of the students knew her. They were so happy to play with an older, familiar face.
木曜日は庄内公園に行きました。遠足シーズンで小学生であふれていました。偶然にもISNの卒業生に遭遇し、年上の顔なじみのお友達と遊べてとても嬉しそうでした。

Things got a bit messy with this one but everyone had a blast and that’s what matters the most.
今回のクラフト染め紙。絵の具に漬ける加減が難しく、ちょっとバタバタでしたがAuroraさんたちは夢中になっていました。楽しいのが一番！（洗濯物を増やしてすみません！お洗濯よろしくお願いいたします）

The new songs of this interval are donguri koro koro and a song about sweet potato.All the students sang their hearts out.
新しいお歌が始まりました。どんぐりころころとサツマイモの歌を歌います。鈴は「さんぽ」新しい音符も覚えました。
