Aurora: Our trip to the zoo!![July 16th-19th] – 0歳から中学部までの一貫した国際教育のインターナショナルスクールオブ長野（ISN）

Hello everyone.

皆さんこんにちは！

It’s been quite a wet fortnight. Although the rain and cooler weather gave us all some respite from the scorching heat, the humidity hasn’t been so kind. The students had been dealing with anxiety as the rain had them confined indoors. They finally got a much appreciated break when we visited Alps park zoo on Thursday as part of our LOI1. Some of the questions the students asked the zookeeper were:

雨の多い2週間でしたね。雨と涼しさは灼熱の暑さから私たちを解放してくれましたが、プールはできず、室内で過ごしていたAuroraさんたち。お天気が心配でしたが木曜日、いいお天気に恵まれてついに！！LOI1の一環としてアルプス公園の動物園に行くことが出来ました！Auroraさんたちは動物園の飼育員さんに次のような質問をしました：

1.Where do monkeys hide when it rains?

1.雨が降るとサルはどこに隠れますか？

2.Do monkeys bath everyday?

2.サルは毎日お風呂に入りますか？

In response to this the zookeeper said that:

この質問に飼育員さんは以下のように教えてくれました。
1. They hide under trees or in caves.

1,雨が降るときは木の下や洞窟の中に隠れています。

2.Monkey do not like water. They do not bath at all.

2.サルは濡れるのを嫌います。お風呂には入りません。

In addition to this, he told the students that contrary to popular belief, monkeys don’t like bananas. Particularly Japanese monkeys because bananas are not native to Japan. The students watched as the monkeys were given watermelon as a mid-morning snack. Some ate the red part and left the peel. They then came back for the peel later. The zookeeper explained that they usually compete for food so they naturally eat the yummiest stuff first so that they don’t lose out.

It was such an informative trip! The students were INQUIRERS and COMMUNICATORS. Well done Aurora!!!!!

さらに飼育員さんは、一般に信じられているのとは逆に、二ホンザルはバナナがあまり好きではないと教えてくれました。日本ではバナナは自生していないからだそうです。そして、サルたちに午前中のおやつとしてスイカをあげるところを見せてくれました。何匹かは赤いおいしい部分だけを食べ、皮を残して立ち去り、そして後で皮を取りに来ました。飼育係のさんのお話によると、サルは普段から餌の取り合いをしているので、負けないように自然においしいものを先に食べるのだそうです。（皮も食べるそうです！）

とても勉強になりましたね！AuroraさんたちはINQUIRERS（探究する人）でありCOMMUNICATORS（コミュニケーションができる人）でした。よくできました！！

Gym

This week we casually practised how to line up for a race in preparation for the Sports Festival. The teacher called our names and we responded with lively voices and lined up individually. Practise makes perfect so we will continue this until the big day!

今週はスポーツフェスティバルに向けて、かけっこの並び方をさりげなく練習しました。先生が名前を呼ぶと、元気な声で返事をし、一人一人整列しました。練習あるのみです！

Music

Ms.Nishimura said “when the tempo of the piano is slow walk like a horse and run when the tempo becomes fast.” Everyone enjoyed running like horses with sticks stretched out before them.

音楽の西村先生は「ピアノのテンポが遅いときは馬のように歩き、テンポが速くなると走るんだよ」と言いました。みんな、棒を持ちながら腕を前に伸ばして馬のように走るのを楽しみました。
