Getting ready for Sports Day!- Aurora (August 25-29)

Hello dear parents and friends,

This week, we spent much of our time preparing for the upcoming Sports Festival. During the gym day, the Aurora class and the upper classes went to the gym for rehearsal. Our students gave their best in the race and truly enjoyed performing their exercise dance. They are looking forward to showing their parents their hard work and enthusiasm on the big day.

This week, one of our students was very excited to welcome her parents and their pet dog to our class. They kindly shared how they take care of their dog – by giving it food and snacks, giving it baths, and even letting it sleep with them. In return, their dog shows love by providing comfort and making the whole family happy. The children were delighted to hear the story and to meet such a special, cute friend.

Thanks to Emma’s parents, who devoted their time and effort to helping us understand and answer the inquiry in our Unit 2 UOI lesson.

Our students had another memorable summer by enjoying time in the school pool. They moved their bodies, kept cool in the summer heat, and had fun socializing with friends while also showing care for one another. Sadly, this week marks the end of our outdoor pool time. The students truly had a wonderful and joyful experience that they will remember.

We made one more craft for the Sports Festival. This time, we chose sunflowers to celebrate summer, as sunflower festivals are also held in some areas of the city. Aurora class planted sunflowers in the garden, and since they bloomed beautifully, we took a picture for everyone to see while working on their craft.

First, the children tore pieces of origami paper and pasted them onto the labeled sunflower. They used their thinking skills to figure out how to fit the paper within the outlined shapes, and they showed great concentration while completing their work.

We have pet snails in the cage in the classroom, and this week, one of our students, who has a strong interest in insects, brought in a pet praying mantis. The children were fascinated and excited to observe it each day. Fresh leaves were placed in the cage so that the mantis could eat and move around freely.

This experience tied in beautifully with our IB lesson about animals and insects. The children not only practiced their observation skills but also deepened their understanding of the needs of living creatures. This hands-on experience encouraged their curiosity and helped them make real-life connections to what we are exploring in class.

Thank you for always supporting us. We look forward to sharing more of the children’s learning and adventures with you.

Have a fantastic weekend!
