Why provide parties at school for kids? Parties at school can benefit kids in many ways. Benefits of kids’ parties are not only about letting them have fun. Find out how social interaction can help them develop into a happier person. Parties can help kids develop social skills like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. They can also help kids feel comfortable working in groups and build friendships. Parties can be learning experiences that help kids expand their vocabulary, learn about cultural awareness, and develop respect and understanding. Parties can help build positive relationships between students, the school, and their families.❤
Milky Way class had two fantastic parties this week. On Monday we had a Halo-halo party. Halo-halo is a popular dessert in the Philippines that’s a combination of shaved ice layered with a variety of different ingredients: tropical fruits, ice cream, gelatin-based candies made from coconut water, and so much more. Since everybody was so interested in eating this dessert since last year when they were in Shooting Star class, we thought this was the right time for them to try it because we are also learning about the Philippines. Milky Way students worked on making the jelly. They followed the procedure given by the teacher and waited patiently for their turn. They were so curious about the saba bananas which is one of the ingredients in halo-halo. They found out that we can cook it in many ways and we want to cook it for the halo-halo. We boiled it and we observed how it’s color changed from green to brown. They also cut it into bite-sized pieces. After preparing all the ingredients, they lined up at our halo-halo shop and one by one they got their halo-halo. Most of them loved the ube (purple yam jam) and asked for a second serving. It was their favorite among all the ingredients in halo-halo.🍧
On Friday, we had a sweet potato party. If you can remember, we harvested the sweet potatoes last month and now they were ready for our sweet potato party. They worked together to wrap the sweet potatoes in the newspaper and foil. After that, the adults took charge of baking the potatoes, because it involves using fire. While waiting for the sweet potatoes to be cooked, Mr. Koyama toured us in their garden and got a chance to visit and feed the chickens in their coop. And when sweet potatoes were ready they gathered together with their families and enjoyed eating them with the very nice outside weather and scenery. We ended the party by singing our goodbye song and went home with a sweet potato souvenir. We are so thankful to Milky Way parents for coming despite your busy schedule. We really appreciate your support all the time.🍠🙇♀️
