Japanese Traditional Events! MW 10/28-11/1

We live in Japan, so it is very important that our children know about the Japanese traditional events. This week, Milky Way class learned about Japanese traditional events such as Japanese New Year, Children’s Day, and Shichi-Go-San. They listened to Ms. Kumi’s presentation about each event, asked questions, shared ideas, and enjoyed playing games and making crafts related to them. 🇯🇵

In our reading lesson, we read the book “Valentines All Around”. Since this is also related to our UOI, we also discussed it and the White Day in Japan. We knew the difference between them and where they originated. Everybody could relate to this book and shared how they celebrate or what they do on Valentine’s Day and White Day.💌

In our Phonics lesson, we learned a new digraph which is /ey/ as in money, monkey, donkey, honey, valley, trolley, etc. They also tried to think and write their own sentences using those words.📝

Everybody had so much fun playing at the park with this autumn weather and vibe. Last time, they collected a bunch of acorns in the park and now they are having fun making acorn people. Look at how cute the acorn people that they made!😻

We also changed the plants in the garden with the autumn vegetables. Once again, we showed teamwork in planting the broccoli, lettuce and onions. We will continue to work together for them to grow big and healthy.🥦🥬🧅

On Monday, we had our October birthday party. This month, three of our dear friends have turned 6 years old. Happy, happy birthday to you!🎂We had fun watching the Science experiment at the birthday party. We were amazed how the colorful balloons with our favorite cartoon characters inflated using vinegar and baking soda. It’s like magic!🤡 We also enjoyed eating the birthday snack with the Halloween theme. Yummy cupcakes!🧁

Thank you for reading our weekly blog. Happy long weekend!🤗
