Hello everyone! みなさんこんにちは！
The students kicked off their week by reviewing the meaning of the 3Rs. They drew pictures of what they saw and what they learned from last week’s visit to Econecol . It was a very valuable experience for them to actually hear from the horses’ mouths, what happens to the materials collected from garbage stations around their neighborhoods. The points of interest were:
生徒たちは3Rの意味を復習することから今週をスタートしました。先週のエコネコル訪問で見たものや学んだことを絵に描きました。近所のもったいないボックスから集められた資源がどのように処理されるのか、実際に現場の人たちの口から聞くことができたのは、生徒たちにとって非常に貴重な経験でした。興味深かった点は以下のとおりです。
- When household appliances such as washing machines and fridges are dismantled, the plastic and screws are set aside. The plastic is usually used to make plastic cups and the screws are melted to make something new. The dismantling process is done by hand so it’s very hard work!
- Cardboard boxes are recycled to make new cardboard boxes and newspapers are used to make toilet paper.
- Clothes that are in good condition are shipped to different countries across the world where they can be worn again(reused).
１洗濯機や冷蔵庫などの家電製品を解体すると、プラスチックとネジが回収されます。プラスチックは通常、プラスチックカップの原料として、ネジは溶かして新しい製品を作るために使用されます。解体作業は手作業で行われるため、非常に重労働です。
２段ボール箱はリサイクルされて新しい段ボール箱が作られ、新聞紙はトイレットペーパーの原料として再利用されます。
３状態の良い衣類は、世界中の様々な国に送られ、再び着用（リユース）されます。
For the phonics lessons they learned about the long vowel a sound,” a_e”. The words introduced were cake, bake, date, rake, safe, gate, name and plate.
フォニックスレッスンでは、長母音「a_e」について学びました。（eはマジックeなので無音になります）紹介された単語は、cake、bake、date、rake、safe、gate、name、plateです。
Tuesday was an exciting day for everyone as the whole school gathered in the music room to celebrate the births of those born in June. They enjoyed ‘baking a cake’ for the birthday girls and boys, and watching a magic trick.
火曜日は、6月生まれの子どもたちの誕生日を祝うために園の全生徒がミュージックルームに集まり、楽しい時間を過ごしました。誕生日の子どもたちのために「ケーキ作り」をしたり、マジックを観たりして楽しみました。
One of the parents suggested making paper from milk cartons would help the students appreciate materials that they encounter in their daily lives. So we started preparing for that together as a class.
保護者の方が、牛乳パックで紙を作ることで、子どもたちが日常生活で使っている素材（物）への感謝の気持ちを育むことができるのではないかと提案してくれました。そこで、クラス全員でその準備を始めました。
The steps involved in the process were as follows:1. Put the milk packs in the water for few days. When soften, peel off the thin plastic material from the milk cartons. 2. Ripping them into small pieces. 3. Using a food processor to make the pieces even smaller and finer. Added some flower paper so that it becomes colourful. 4.Levelling the pieces in a rectangle shaped tofu container.5. Compressing the pieces and using a sieve to drain excess water from these pieces and then leaving them to dry! Everyone is excited to draw on the paper they made from the milk cartons!!!!
工程は以下のとおりです。1. 牛乳パックを水に数日浸し、柔らかくなったら薄いプラスチック素材を剥がす。2. 細かく裂く。3. フードプロセッサーを使って、さらに細かく砕く。ここで花紙を混ぜると色がつきます。4. 穴を開けた長方形の豆腐容器に平らに並べる。5. もう一つの豆腐容器を上にして紙を圧縮し、余分な水分を切り、乾燥させる。みんな牛乳パックで作った紙に、絵や文字を描くのを楽しみにしています！
This was a very valuable experience for them as they navigate Unit 1’s central idea because it showed them significance of recycling and reusing. No one knew that it was possible to make paper from milk packs!
ミルクパックで紙を作ることは、ユニット1のセントラルアイディアを理解する上で、生徒たちにとって非常に貴重な経験となりました。リサイクルと再利用の大切さを実感できたからです。ユニットを始める前は、牛乳パックから紙が作れるなんて、誰も知りませんでした！
Everyone enjoyed making a craft for their dear fathers for June 15th’s father’s day. They sure do love their fathers to the moon and back!
6月15日の父の日に向けて、みんなで心を込めてお父さんへのクラフトを作って楽しみました。みんな本当にお父さんのことが大好きです❤️
They read ,” get the pets” for this week’s reading lesson.
今週のリーディングレッスンでは、「get the pets」を読みました。
The students have been hard at work watering and measuring the growth of the vegetables they planted a few weeks ago. They have also been talking about what plants need to grow and the basic structures of plants.
生徒たちは数週間前に植えた野菜に水をやり、成長を測る作業に一生懸命取り組んでいます。また、植物の成長に必要なものや植物の基本的な構造についても話し合いました。
The week ahead(June 16th-20th)
Next week’s main focus will be reviewing the meaning of the word “reduce” . We will also begin end of unit assessments. These will continue until the unit’s official end date, June 30th.
