ミルキーウェイクラス：物語は、私たちの感情や考えを共有するのにどのように役立つのでしょうか？（11月10日～14日）
Hi everyone! Welcome to our second blog of the month. The whole school gathered together to celebrate the births of all the students born in November. Shooting Star’s Ms. Fronie was in charge this month and she did a fun ‘drink making’ presentation for the audience. She made strawberry juice for Santa Claus, melon juice for snowman and banana juice for the reindeer.
皆さん、こんにちは！ミルキーウェイのブログへようこそ。11月生まれの子どもたちの誕生を祝うため、全園児が集まりました。今月はシューティングスタークラス担任のフロニー先生が担当し、楽しい「ドリンク作り」のプレゼンテーションを披露してくれました。サンタクロースにはイチゴジュース、雪だるまにはメロンジュース、トナカイにはバナナジュースを作りました。
This week we moved on to the second line of inquiry of our discovery of how stories help us understand ourselves and others. The students listened to the “The color monster” story . They then tried to define the emotions portrayed by the color monster in the story and explain why they thought the color monster felt that way.
今週は、今ユニット「物語が自分自身や他者を理解する上でどのように役立つか」の２つ目のテーマ「物語を通じて感情やアイディアを伝えることができる」に進みました。ミルキーウェイの子どもたちは「色の怪物」の物語を聞きました。そして、物語の中で色の怪物が描いた感情がどのようなものかを考え、なぜそのように感じたのかを話し合いました。
To discover how feelings and ideas are expressed through storytelling, we did a ‘story building’ activity as a class.
ストーリーテリングを通じて感情や考えがどのように表現されるかを知るために、クラスで「ストーリービルディング」のアクティビティを行いました。
There were 5 color coded cubes. The colors pointed out whether something happened in the beginning, the middle or the end of the story. Pink represented the beginning, black the middle and white the end. The first person who rolled the cube had to narrate what was happening in the picture to get the ball rolling. The second, third and fourth people would say what happened in the middle and the fifth person would create an ending to the story. We did three rounds of this and below are the pictures of the stories we created together and their respective descriptions. The sequence of events begins from the bottom of the tower and ends at the top.
5つの３色に色分けされたキューブを使います。色は、物語の始まり、中間、終わりのどの時点で何かが起こるかを示しています。ピンクは始まり、黒は中間、白は終わりを表しています。最初にキューブを振った人は、絵の中で何が起こっているかをナレーションで説明して、物語をスタートさせます。2人目、3人目、4人目は中間で何が起こったかを話し、5人目は物語の結末を考えます。私たちはこれを3ラウンド行い、以下は一緒に作り上げた物語の絵とそれぞれの説明です。出来事の順序は塔の一番下から始まり、一番上で終わります。
Story number 1:”Once upon a time, there was a girl named Goldilocks .She saw a house while she was taking a walk. She wanted to get inside that house, but there was a tiger drinking soup in the kitchen. While the tiger was eating, the mom of that house and her child had gone to buy groceries for that tiger. On the other side of town, another girl was having fun, feeding a monkey a banana from the window of a bus. Her grandma was waiting for her to come back home. She made her gingerbread so that she could eat something when she got back.THE END!”
物語1：「昔々、ゴルディロックスという女の子がいました。彼女は散歩中に一軒の家を見つけました。彼女は家の中に入りたいと思いましたが、台所では虎がスープを飲んでいました。虎がスープを飲んでいる間、その家のお母さんと子どもは虎のために食料を買いに行っていました。町の反対側では、別の女の子がバスの窓から猿にバナナをあげて楽しんでいました。おばあちゃんは彼女の帰りを待っていました。彼女は家に帰ったら何か食べられるように、ジンジャーブレッドを作りました。おしまい！」
Story number 2:”A family and their dog were going somewhere. They were visiting their grandmother. On their way there, they saw a girl feeding a monkey a banana. While the girl was feeding the monkey, she started thinking of her plans to go shopping with her mom. When the family finally got to where they were going ,they decided to go eat at a restaurant. THE END!”
ストーリー2：「ある家族と一匹の犬が、おばあちゃんを訪ねてどこかに出かけていました。その途中で、女の子が猿にバナナをあげているのを見かけました。女の子は猿にバナナをあげながら、お母さんと買い物に行く計画を思いつきました。ようやく目的地に着くと、一家はレストランで食事をすることにしました。おしまい！」
Story number 3: “A girl was leaving for school so she waved goodbye to her mom . After she left, a tiger knocked on the door. The girl’s sister let the tiger into the house. They started eating lunch together . The tiger was still hungry so he went to the kitchen to look for more food. He started eating from the pot. When the girl got back home from school all the food was finished so she went out to eat with her family.THE END!”
物語3：「ある女の子が学校へ行く途中で、お母さんに手を振って別れを告げました。彼女が学校を出た後、トラがドアをノックしました。女の子の姉はトラを家に招き入れました。二人は一緒に昼食を食べ始めました。トラはまだお腹が空いていたので、もっと食べ物を探しに台所へ行きました。そして鍋の中の食べ物を食べ始めました。女の子が学校から家に帰ると、食べ物はすべてなくなっていたので、彼女は家族と一緒に外食に出かけました。終わり！」
It was a fun way to use their imagination and a good opportunity for them to review one of the elements of stories (PLOT) that they learned about a few weeks ago.
これは、みんなの想像力引き出す、楽しいアクティビティです。数週間前に学んだ物語の要素の 1 つ (プロット) を復習する良い機会にもなりました。
For this week’s show and tell we enjoyed presentations of stuffed animals, an autumn themed tree and a tiny Christmas tree made of interesting materials. It seems that when someone brings something original that they made, , they have more to say and the audience ask questions with depth. Please remind your kids that they are welcome to bring things they make at home for show and tell!
今週のショー・アンド・テルでは、ぬいぐるみ、秋をテーマにしたツリー、そして面白い素材で作った小さなクリスマスツリーなど、楽しいプレゼンテーションが行われました。クラスのお友達が自分で作ったオリジナル作品を持ってくると、話が弾み、観客もたくさんの質問をしてくれます。お子さんたちに、家で作ったものをショー・アンド・テルに持ってきても大丈夫だと伝えてください！
We entered a Christmas decoration competition. A couple of schools around Nagano will be competing for the title of ‘best decorated tree’.This is the first time any graduating class of ISN has ever done anything like this. They are all excited and are already hard at work, making their original ornaments for the tree! We all look forwrad to seeing how the final product turns out.
クリスマスの飾り付けコンテストに参加することになりました。長野県内のいくつかの園が「最高のクリスマスツリー」の称号をかけて競い合います。このようなコンテストに参加するのは今年が初めてのことです。ミルキーウェイの皆は、ワクワクしながら、とても熱心にオリジナルの飾り作りに取り組んでいます！完成した作品を見るのが待ち遠しいです。

We will continue to explore how feelings and ideas are expressed through storytelling. We look forward to seeing how the students can grow by reflecting on all the knowledge they have gained so far and to see how they will incorporate feelings and expressions into their Christmas play roles.
