七夕でみんなのお願いが叶いますように☆彡

It’s the second week of July and Shooting Star students continue to enjoy playing in the pool in the schoolyard as one of our summer activities. Students have been talking about watching fireworks displays with their friends which is also one of the popular events in Japan during summer. Summer in Japan is full of fireworks. Because of this, we made a craft using paint and toilet paper tubes to create beautiful and colorful fireworks.

7月の第2週となり、Shooting Starさんたちは園庭でのプール遊びを夏のアクティビティのひとつとして引き続き楽しんでいます。子どもたちは、お友だちと一緒に花火大会を見に行ったことを話してくれました。花火は日本の夏の代表的なイベントのひとつです。そんな日本の夏にちなんで、私たちは絵の具とトイレットペーパーの芯を使って、美しくカラフルな花火の工作を行いました。

ISN will be joining Matsumoto Bon-bon next month. If your family is interested in joining the event, please practice this dance with your children. We will start practicing in the class next week.🪭

ISNは来月、松本ぼんぼんに参加します。ご家族でイベントへの参加をご希望の場合は、お子さまと一緒にこの踊りを練習してください。クラスでは来週から練習を始めます。🪭

Shooting Star students have been so eager to learn more CVC words. On Monday, we started reading short /e/ CVC words which is /ed/ family. After some reading practice, we did a CVC words read and stack challenge. The teacher makes a tower using pictures of /ed/ words and students have to read the words written on the cups and, match and stack them by following the tower made by the teacher. They worked and read together to complete the challenge. Next week, we will learn new CVC words /eg/ family.📖

Shooting Starの子どもたちは、CVCワード（子音-母音-子音の単語）をもっと学ぼうととても意欲的です。月曜日には、短母音 /e/ のCVCワードである「/ed/ファミリー」の読みを始めました。読みの練習のあと、「CVCワード・読み＆積み上げチャレンジ」に取り組みました。
先生が /ed/ の単語の絵を使ってタワーを作り、生徒たちはカップに書かれた単語を読みながら、先生が作ったタワーと同じようにマッチさせて積み上げていきます。子どもたちは協力しながらチャレンジをやり遂げました。来週は、新しいCVCワード「/eg/ファミリー」を学びます。📖

The inquiry about community continued this week and we finally made a community map. Shooting Star students chose one of the buildings they saw in google map when we had a virtual tour and we made it using origami paper. To make a community map, we put all the buildings on a big paper. We named each building such as hospital, school, police station, fire station, shopping mall, and house. Then, we tried to define what a community is based on the community map we made. They said that they could see places and there are people inside them who work, learn, play, and live. And that’s what community is for them. We asked them who are the people who help them in each place and they answered “doctors, teachers, police officers, firefighters, cooking people, mommy, and daddy”. After that, we could say that community helpers are the people who help us. Next week, we will visit the fire station and learn what firefighters’ jobs are and what equipment they use.🏠🏥

今週も「コミュニティ」についての探究を続け、ついにコミュニティマップを作成しました。子どもたちは、バーチャルツアーでGoogleマップを見たときに気になった建物を一つ選び、それを折り紙で作りました。大きな紙の上にみんなの建物を並べて、コミュニティマップを完成させました。それぞれの建物には「病院」「学校」「警察署」「消防署」「ショッピングモール」「家」などの名前をつけました。そして、完成したコミュニティマップをもとに「コミュニティとは何か」を考えてみました。子どもたちは「いろんな場所があって、その中には働く人、学ぶ人、遊ぶ人、住んでいる人がいる」と答えてくれました。それが彼らにとっての「コミュニティ」だそうです。

さらに、「その場所で自分たちを助けてくれる人は誰か？」と聞いてみると、「お医者さん、先生、警察官、消防士、お料理する人、ママ、パパ」と答えてくれました。そのことから、「コミュニティヘルパーとは、私たちを助けてくれる人たちのこと」とまとめることができました。来週は消防署を訪問し、消防士の仕事や使っている道具について学びます。🏠🏥

Shooting Star students are excited to go back to Mr. Koyama’s farm where they planted sweet potatoes. We decorated a wooden sign board for our sweet potatoes. Each of them contributed by tracing the letters “sweet potatoes” and by drawing cute pictures.🍠

子どもたちは、以前さつまいもを植えた小山さんの農園にまた行けることをとても楽しみにしています。今回は、さつまいも用の木製の看板を飾り付けました。「sweet potatoes」という文字をなぞったり、かわいい絵を描いたりして、みんなで協力して看板を完成させました。🍠
