We did a lot of learning this week, and it has been wonderful to see the children’s growth. They are starting to build confidence in their writing and are beginning to notice their own improvements. This has been very encouraging for them. Many students are taking responsibility for their learning by asking for opportunities to write independently and by working together in groups to support one another. They are seeing their efforts pay off and realizing that they can do it. What once seemed very difficult is now within reach!
今週はたくさんのことを学び、子どもたちの成長を目の当たりにできて本当に素晴らしい一週間でした。子どもたちは書くことへの自信をつけ始めており、自分自身の進歩にも気づき始めています。これは彼らにとって大きな励みとなっています。多くの生徒が、自主的に書く機会を求めてきたり、グループで協力し合って互いを支え合ったりすることで、自らの学びに主体的に取り組んでいます。彼らは自分の努力が実を結んでいることを実感し、「自分にもできる」と気づき始めています。かつては難しそうに見えたことも、今では手の届くところまで近づいてきました！
We also challenged ourselves in mathematics this week. Using maths cubes, we explored the question: “Who is the tallest and shortest in our class?” The children worked together to measure each other, which was both exciting and fun. On Friday, we continued our measuring activities by measuring different objects around the classroom. Before measuring, we practiced making estimates and then compared our guesses with the actual measurements. After completing the objects on the worksheet, we looked around the classroom for other things to measure and recorded them in a table.
今週は算数にも挑戦しました。算数用キューブを使って、「クラスで一番背が高いのは誰？一番背が低いのは誰？」という問題を解いてみました。子どもたちは協力して互いの身長を測り合い、ワクワクしながら楽しく活動しました。金曜日には、教室にあるさまざまな物を測る活動を行いました。測る前に、まず目測で長さを推測し、その推測値を実際の測定値と比較しました。ワークシートの課題を終えた後は、教室の中を見回して測れるものを探し、その結果を表にまとめました。
For our Unit of Inquiry (UOI), we recorded an informational video about how to cross the road safely. After watching the video back together, we reflected on how we could improve it. The children noticed helpful ideas, such as remembering to look at the camera while speaking. Next week, when everyone is present, we will try filming it again.
We also continued to work together during playtime this week. The children collaborated to build a submarine out of boxes and enjoyed playing together outside. It has been wonderful to see how teamwork supports both learning and play.
There is now just one week left before we finish as Shooting Star Class and become Milky Way Class. The children have done a lot to prepare recently and are ready for the new year and the new challenges ahead. On Friday, we noticed the absence of the Milky Way Class, who were attending their graduation ceremony. We will miss them, but we wish them the very best as they begin their next adventure in Grade 1. How exciting!
今回の探究活動（UOI）の一環として、道路を安全に渡る方法についての解説動画を撮影しました。みんなで一緒に動画を視聴した後、どうすればもっと良くなるかについて話し合いました。子どもたちは、話すときはカメラの方を見るようにするなど、役立つアイデアをいくつか挙げてくれました。来週、全員が集まったときに、もう一度撮影に挑戦する予定です。
今週も、遊びの時間には子どもたちが協力し合って活動しました。子どもたちは段ボールを使って潜水艦を作り、外で一緒に遊ぶのを楽しみました。チームワークが学びと遊びの両方を支えている様子を見ることができ、とても素晴らしいことでした。
「シューティングスタークラス」としての生活が終わり、「ミルキーウェイクラス」になるまで、あと1週間となりました。子どもたちはここ最近、準備に励んできており、新しい学年とこれから待ち受ける新たな挑戦に向けて万全の態勢を整えています。金曜日には、卒業式に出席していたため、ミルキーウェイクラスの子どもたちがいないことに気づきました。彼らがいなくなるのは寂しいですが、1年生として新たな冒険を始める彼らに、心からのエールを送ります。本当にワクワクしますね！
