This week in our Unit of Inquiry (UOI), our learners dove into the important topic of waste management by exploring how to separate trash correctly. We focused on sorting everyday waste into the correct bins to help care for our environment.
We introduced four types of trash categories:
🟢 Green Bag – for burnable waste like tissues and food scraps
🟡 Yellow Bag – for plastics such as wrappers and containers
🔴 Red Bag – for non-burnable items like metal or broken toys
♻️ Recyclables – for PET bottles, cans, and paper that can be reused
To make learning exciting and interactive, we played a sorting game! The children were given different “trash” items (real or pretend), and they had to line up in front of the bag where they thought the item belonged. There was laughter, thinking, and a lot of proud moments when students got it right—and even when they learned from their mistakes.
Before the week ended, our sorting game became more fun when we could play with our parents during the open day. It was such a memorable experience!
The game was not only fun but also helped reinforce the importance of taking responsibility for our waste.

今週の探究単元（UOI）では、生徒たちはゴミの正しい分別の方法を学ぶことで、廃棄物管理という重要なテーマに深く取り組みました。環境保護のため、日常のゴミを正しいゴミ箱に分別することに焦点を当てました。
ゴミの種類を4種類紹介しました。
🟢 緑の袋 – ティッシュや食べ残しなどの燃えるゴミ用
🟡 黄色の袋 – 包装紙や容器などのプラスチック用
🔴 赤い袋 – 不燃物や壊れたおもちゃなどの燃えない物用
♻️ リサイクル品 – ペットボトル、缶、紙など、再利用できる物用
楽しく相互作用的な学習体験を提供するために、仕分けゲームをしました！子どもたちには様々な「ゴミ」（本物または模造品）が与えられ、そのゴミがどこにあると思うか、袋の前に並んでもらいました。笑い声や考え、そして正解した子どもたちの誇らしい瞬間がたくさんありました。そして、失敗から学ぶ姿も見られました。
週が終わる前には、保護者の方と一緒に仕分けゲームをすることができ、さらに楽しくなりました。本当に思い出に残る体験でした！
このゲームは楽しいだけでなく、ゴミに対して責任を持つことの大切さを再認識させてくれました。

Our classroom was buzzing with excitement during our Workstation Activity Day! The students rotated through three interactive stations, each designed to strengthen both literacy and fine motor skills—all while having fun and staying engaged.
✨ Station 1: CVC Word Decoding
At this station, the children looked at pictures and decoded simple CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words such as “nap,” “pin,” and “pad.” They used letter cards to spell out the words, helping build their phonics awareness and reading confidence.
✨ Station 2: Pokémon Character Name Search
This station was a hit! Kids searched Pokémon character names in the worksheet and practiced reading or identifying the names. It was a fun way to blend their interests with literacy practice, boosting both word recognition and excitement for reading.
✨ Station 3: Clay Molding Challenge
In this hands-on station, students selected picture cards and tried to recreate the image using clay. From animals to potato fries, this activity encouraged them to focus on details and use their hands creatively, strengthening their fine motor coordination.
All three stations offered a balanced mix of thinking, creating, and reading, and the students moved through each one with curiosity and enthusiasm. It was wonderful to see them learning through play and collaboration!

ワークステーション・アクティビティ・デーの教室は、活気に満ち溢れていました！生徒たちは3つのインタラクティブなステーションを順番に体験しました。各ステーションは、読み書き能力と細かい運動能力の両方を強化するように設計されており、楽しみながら集中して学習に取り組むことができました。
✨ ステーション1：CVC単語のデコード このステーションでは、子どもたちは絵を見ながら、「nap」「pin」「pad」といった簡単なCVC（子音-母音-子音）単語のデコードを行いました。文字カードを使って単語の綴りを練習することで、フォニックスへの意識を高め、読むことへの自信を深めました。
✨ ステーション2：ポケモンキャラクターの名前探し このステーションは大人気でした！子どもたちはワークシートでポケモンキャラクターの名前を探し、名前の読み方や読み方を練習しました。子どもたちの興味と読み書きの練習を楽しく組み合わせることで、言葉の認識力と読書への意欲を高めることができました。 ✨ ステーション3：粘土細工チャレンジ この実践的なステーションでは、子どもたちは絵カードを選び、粘土を使ってその絵を再現しました。動物からポテトフライまで、このアクティビティを通して、子どもたちは細部にまで注意を払い、創造的に手を使うことで、細かい運動能力の協調性を高めることができました。
