Hello everyone,
It has been a slightly unusual week, as I was home with a fever for much of it. However, it sounds like the children had a wonderful time while I was away! They used paper, pipe cleaners, scissors, tape, and glue to design and create colourful trains. The students were incredibly crafty and creative. Recently, they have also been using cardboard to make toys such as puppets, puppet theatres, and even skateboards. It has been lovely to see how resourceful and imaginative they are becoming.
今週は少し変わった一週間でした。ほとんどを熱で家で過ごしたからです。しかし、私がいない間、子どもたちはとても楽しい時間を過ごしたようです！紙、パイプクリーナー、はさみ、テープ、のりを使ってカラフルな電車をデザインし、作りました。生徒たちは驚くほど器用で創造的でした。最近では段ボールを使って、人形や人形劇の舞台、さらにはスケートボードまで作っています。彼らがどれほど工夫を凝らし、想像力を働かせているかを見るのは本当に素晴らしいことです
At the beginning of the week, we enjoyed a storytelling event. The children listened to the classic story Farmer Duck and then created beautiful duck collages using coloured paper. We also completed a short writing activity based on the story. Farmer Duck teaches us an important lesson about teamwork and pitching in to help, rather than leaving all the hard work to one person. We talked about how this connects to our own classroom, especially during tidy-up time — when we all help, the job gets done much more quickly!
週の初めには、ストーリーテリングのイベントを楽しみました。子どもたちは古典的な物語『ファーマー・ダック』を聞き、色紙を使って美しいアヒルのコラージュを作りました。また、物語に基づいた短い作文活動も行いました。『ファーマー・ダック』は、大変な仕事を一人に任せるのではなく、チームワークと協力して手助けすることの大切さを教えてくれます。この教訓が私たちの教室、特に片付けの時間とどう結びつくかについて話し合いました。みんなで協力すれば、作業がずっと早く終わるのです！
In mathematics, we have been working hard on learning how to “bridge 10” when adding. This is a challenging concept, but with practice and perseverance, we will continue to grow in confidence and accuracy. To keep variety in our learning, we also explored shapes and their properties (attributes). We described a circle as having one curved side, and a square as having four straight sides. We discussed the difference between a square and a rectangle — I wonder who can explain it clearly to Mum and Dad at home? We also began exploring simple repeating patterns and will continue looking at how patterns can be created in different ways — with shape, size, colour, numbers, on paper, and using physical objects.
算数では、足し算で「10を超える」方法を一生懸命学んでいます。難しい概念ですが、練習と根気強さで、自信と正確さをさらに高めていきます。学習に変化を持たせるため、図形とその性質（特徴）についても探求しました。円は曲線の一辺を持つと説明し、四角形は直線四辺を持つと学びました。正方形と長方形の違いについて話し合いました——ご家庭でお母さんやお父さんに、誰が分かりやすく説明できるでしょうか？また、単純な繰り返しパターンを探求し始め、形・大きさ・色・数字・紙の上・実物など、様々な方法でパターンが作られる様子を今後も見ていきます。
Friday was especially fun as we celebrated our monthly birthday party and then enjoyed a trip to the park. Although the weather has been up and down, we are starting to see signs of warmer days ahead — the first hints of spring!
We have also begun working on the graduation video for the Milky Way class. The end of the year is approaching quickly, but we are excited for all that is still to come and what lies ahead.

金曜日は特に楽しく、月例のお誕生日会を祝った後、公園へお出かけしました。天候は不安定でしたが、暖かな日々の兆しが見え始め、春の訪れを感じています！
また、ミルキーウェイクラスの卒業ビデオ制作も始めました。年度末が迫っていますが、これから訪れること、これから始まることにワクワクしています。
