City Services and Community Helpers
As part of our Unit 3 inquiry, Government and Community, students learned about different city services and the workers who provide them. After brainstorming services such as schools, hospitals, garbage collection, and fire stations, each student chose one service to focus on.
They created a poster that included an illustration of the service, the worker, and a short piece of writing explaining what the worker does, why the service is important, and an example from real life. Some students also challenged themselves to imagine what would happen if that service didn’t exist or to connect their work to the role of city government.
When the posters were finished, students proudly presented them to the class. Through this project, they gained a deeper understanding of how many different people and services help keep our community running smoothly.
ユニット3「政府とコミュニティ」の学びの一環として、生徒たちは市のさまざまなサービスと、それを支える人々について学びました。学校、病院、ごみ収集、消防署などのサービスを話し合ったあと、それぞれが 1つのサービス を選びました。
生徒たちは、サービスのイラスト、その仕事をする人のイラストを描き、さらにその人がどんな仕事をするのか、なぜそのサービスが大切なのか、そして実際の生活の中での例を短く書いて ポスター にまとめました。中には「もしそのサービスがなかったらどうなるか」や「市の役割とどうつながっているか」など、さらに深めて考えた生徒もいました。
完成したポスターはクラスで発表され、生徒たちは自分の作品を誇らしげに紹介しました。このプロジェクトを通して、生徒たちは地域社会を支える多くの人々やサービスの大切さを改めて理解することができました。
Enjoying Fresh Local Grapes at Lunch
This week, the students had a wonderful surprise at lunchtime — they enjoyed eating fresh, local, and organic grapes!
We were able to receive freshly harvested Kyoho grapes, picked that very morning, as well as Delaware grapes from a local farm. Both varieties were sweet, juicy, and full of flavor.
The children were very excited to taste these seasonal treats, and it was a great way to connect our lunchtime with the harvest season here in Nagano. We are grateful to our local community for sharing such healthy, delicious food with the students.
今週のランチタイムに、子どもたちはとても嬉しいサプライズを体験しました。新鮮で地元産の有機ぶどうをいただいたのです！
朝に収穫されたばかりの 巨峰 と、地元農園で採れた デラウェア を給食でいただくことができました。どちらも甘くてジューシーで、とても美味しいぶどうでした。
子どもたちは季節の味覚を楽しみ、ランチを通して長野の実りの秋を感じる良い機会となりました。地域の皆さまに支えられ、このような健康的で美味しい食材を子どもたちと分かち合えることに感謝しています。
