How a news program is made

This week, we continued our exploration of Media and Its Influence on Society by learning how news programs are created. The students discussed the importance of verifying information by checking multiple sources before sharing it. They were surprised to learn how easily stories can change depending on where the information comes from!

We also studied the steps involved in making a news program, from researching and writing scripts to filming and editing. The students enjoyed seeing how many people and roles are needed to make a single broadcast.

This project connects directly to our Performance Day, where each group will create and present their own news program live on stage. Next week, we will begin the planning stage, as students start choosing their topics, roles, and story ideas.

今週は、「社会におけるメディアの影響」というユニットの学びをさらに深めました。
生徒たちは、ニュースを作るときに複数の情報源を確認し、正確さを確かめることの大切さについて話し合いました。同じ出来事でも、情報の出どころによって伝え方が変わることに気づき、とても興味を持っていました。

また、ニュース番組ができるまでの流れも学びました。調査・台本作り・撮影・編集など、１つの番組を作るために多くの人が関わっていることを知り、驚いていました。

この学びは、今後行われるパフォーマンスデーにもつながります。各グループが自分たちのニュース番組を企画し、ステージ上で発表する予定です。来週からは、いよいよ企画・準備の段階に入ります。

Observing Seasonal Changes

This week, we began exploring how news programs are made as part of our new unit, Media and Its Influence on Society. Students learned how news stations work and discussed what makes information trustworthy and clear. We analyzed examples of news stories and talked about how media can shape the way we think and feel about events.

Next week, the students will start planning their own group news programs, deciding on topics, reporters, and segments. This project will lead directly to our upcoming Performance Day, where each group will present their news broadcast live on stage. Through this process, students are learning valuable skills in communication, teamwork, and critical thinking while discovering how media can both inform and influence society.

メディアの学習と並行して、「季節の変化と生き物たち」というユニットの観察活動も始まりました。
生徒たちは外に出て、秋の涼しい空気の中で木々の葉の色の変化や植物の様子、冬に向けての動物たちの行動を観察しました。

これからも季節ごとの観察を続け、生き物や環境がどのように変化に対応しているかを学んでいきます。自然の中でゆっくり立ち止まり、周囲の変化に気づく大切さを感じる良い機会となりました。
