CHICKENS LAY EGGS にわとりはたまごを産む！
Do cows give us eggs? No! Cows give us milk. Do chickens give us eggs. Yes, chicken lay eggs! We watched a video about a chicken farm and read books, but the best way of learning is seeing it firsthand. Better yet, EAT what we are learning. We touched the eggs, had a feel of the smooth shell and cooked them. We had fried eggs – sunny side up and scrambled eggs. Thank you chickens for your eggs! Itadakimasu thank you for the food!
牛はたまごを産んでくれる？いいえ！牛は牛乳を提供してくれる！鶏はたまごを提供してくれる？うん！にわとりはたまごを産むんだよ！クラスでキャニオンさん達は、ビデオで鶏のいる農場を見たり本を読んでもらったりしながら学んでいますが、一番の方法は体験してみることですね！学ぶ最良の方法は、まず自分の目で確かめること。さらに良いのは、学んだものを実際に味わうことです。私たちは卵に触れ、滑らかな殻の感触を確かめ、調理したものを食べてみました！
ANIMALS & COUNTING 動物と数
Animals give us food and we take care of the animals. We feed the chickens and the cows and they give us food. Animals and people help one another – this is our last line of inquiry. We had a guessing game too – Guess what animal makes this sound? (Please see Youtube video below.) We pointed to the animals on the paper. Good guessing, Canyon! The all-time favourite song about farm animals is BINGO, of course! Numbers are everywhere. We counted the 10 eggs in the tray and worked on number recognition too by colouring the numbers.
動物は私たちに食べ物を提供してくれ、私たちも動物をお世話しています。鶏や牛に餌をあげたりお世話をしたり、そして鶏も牛も食べ物をくれます。動物と人間はお互いに助け合って生きています。これが、このユニットでの最後の探究になります。そして、動物の声を当てるゲームもして楽しみました。何の動物の声が聞こえる？（以下に載せたリンクで楽しんでみてください！）ワークシート上の動物を音を聞いた後に指さしながら答え合わせをしました。よくできたね、キャニオン！農場の動物たちについての一番人気の歌は、もちろん「ビンゴ」です！数字はいたるところにあります。トレイの中の卵を10個数え、数字を色塗りしながら数字の認識も練習しました。
MUD PLAY & SHOW and TELL どろんこ遊びにショーアンドテル！
“I am making chocolate soup, muddy puddles, swimming pools” – these were the words that Canyon were using during mudplay and more. Thank you for bringing in the animals for Show & Tell – a real live praying mantis, whale shark, sparrow bird, monkey and unicorns! Till next week, have a cool Autumn weekend.
